Popular Post Gouch Posted December 14, 2012 Popular Post Posted December 14, 2012 Hello mate; This surfaced last year on E-Music and was picked up by Mark Merry and played on his excellent Soul Sermon radio shows, its also been played by Mick O'Donell on his excellent Soul Discovery Soul Show.I jumped on it and had a carver cut as its an MP3 only. I played at the Wilton Alniter, the Soul Essence Weekender in Yarmouth and at the Soul4Real Weekender in Bilbao and a variety of other smaller doos, all to great response. Nearly a year later it has landed at iTunes, I tried in vane to contact the guy and even raised this track and the problems I was having with Andy Davis with the intention of putting it out on a 45. Iv written about it and attempted to tell every one about this superb track. Recently I was playing it at the Rushden Soul in the Bowl doo, Lens Den, and I was approached by 2 guys who said that Soul Sam is playing it covered up and that they had been trying to find it. Tell the world about this fabulous track, its nearly 2 years old and should be an anthem already. Soul On Gouch 5
Soulman58 Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Top notch stuff. Reminds me of something else but can't put my finger on it.
Dave Harrison Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 That is top drawer! Great record. Downloaded it myself from ITunes recently and have been searching (obviously in vain) for a 45! Hope that someone has success in getting it out there so we can all enjoy hearing it played out. Dave
Autumnstoned Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 I like this although not overly keen on the falsetto. Some fine bass and guitar work going on. A 9 out of 10 job.

Agree Brian, But then cut out the belt driven stream engine powered organ, that the northern soul u tube poster on here - relate too - yes !! Even more laughable to learn Martin Barnfather if so - has it covered up !! - priceless . It's just a "run of the mill" male vocal modern soul offering - needing further exposure to the timeless recognised who hide in yesteryear !! Get it on !

Guest Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Played the J'May I Wont Hurt You, and this one at TripleS last year....
Daryl Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Thought I read somewhere that he is from Manchester? Great record. Deserves a vinyl release.Played it when it first came out nice to see more plays.
Westender Posted January 12, 2015 Posted January 12, 2015 Like them both a lot. J'may's slightly tougher lead voice edges it for me but Smokie can certainly hold a tune. I wonder what the connection between the artists is here and how they came to "share" the backing track?
