Popular Post Jim G Posted December 14, 2012 Popular Post Posted December 14, 2012 (edited) Thought it would be a good idea to post scans, pics, or just name the records that dropped through the letterbox or you have bought somewhere. I thought it would be good idea to see what we are all buying - it doesn't matter f it is £1 or £cost a fortune, just post it here so we can all see what we managed to get and may a few words on why we bought it? Moderaters can advise if it is a good thread or not. I will get the ball rolling with two that came today (Scans below) 1. Young Holt Limited "California Montage" Brunswick USA DEMO - well chuffed, have a stocker, but wanted the demo! 2. Gloria Jones "Tainted Love" USA Champion - label is knackered, vinyl plays great and is in VG++ condition. I bought as I cannot afford a Minty one so got this one for £20 so I can play on original vinyl in my soul do at my house! Edited December 14, 2012 by jim g 4
Guest MrC Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 (edited) The record of the day thread follows these lines pretty much, but with the video of the tune, rather that a label scan. Got to be a record from your box, a quick description of why you posted it, bought it etc. Been running for about 16 months or so. Edited December 14, 2012 by MrC

Got to be a record from your box, a quick description of why you posted it, bought it etc. Been running for about 16 months or so. think the theread is more about what you have just bought rather than what is your record of the day from your current collection, correct me if i'm wrong. This was done as a thread last year and was interesting to see what peeps were buying at the moment, not a bragging rights thread as Jim says, could be a £1 or £1000 record. 4

Guest MrC Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 So what's to be then Mr C?! I wasn't saying you had to merge threads or close this one! Keep it going! Grant was right in his reply about what the record of the day thread is, but after almost a year and a half with about 12 regular contributors it has edged more toward recent purchases, and we do try to stick to the cheaper stuff too. Fill yer boots, I hope this thread carries on in tandem with the record of the day, and keeps going for as long too!

Supercorsa Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 (edited) Within the past 2 months I've purchased the following 5, unfortunately believe the Eddie Regan to be a boot . Obtained the Darrow Fletcher at the Kent records 30th anniversary bash at the 100 Club, and got Darrow to autograph the sleeve (plus the Crossover cd) . The first two I managed to buy as a result of a PPI compensation claim . Edited December 14, 2012 by Supercorsa 2

Demos of chart singles are really tough to find. I have a Stateside demo of "The Letter" by The Box Tops, I'd never sell it, but I've never seen another. Another rare 'chart' one I had was a Decca demo of "Go Now" (Moody Blues). Same with some of the soul ones as well though, things like "Baby Love" are very rare on demo.

Pete, I was very suprised to get it for a Fiver as I thought it should be quite hard to pick up on demo and expected to have to pay a lot more. I have been told it is favourite with the Twisted Wheel crowd, so was expecting a bidding fight. I have bought my mum a mint stock copy now for xmas. She asked me to buy it for it 1968, I bought something else instead, she wasn't impressed!
