boba Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 this was discussed here recently, but mike noriega was close.
Tricky Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 As per telly last night the Yanks may not have put a man on moon!Andys hopes put back.
Marc Forrest Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 A "buyer from the states" has, Martin Adams has, Andy Rix and Tim Brown are/were close. A millionaire from Japan tries really hard to get one accomplished. Andy and Tim may have sold some bits lately so they might be not as close as they used to be ? wonder who`s feeding JM with those tasty Shrine bits at the moment though... one of the above mentioned or somebody else ?

Guest Bearsy Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Martin Adams has one apparently. he sure has i was talking to him about it a few months back

Popular Post Phild Posted December 13, 2012 Popular Post Posted December 13, 2012 (edited) I had them all with the exeception of Bill Dennis. I let The Counts go this summer though, so now I'm two short Some of them are crap through Edited December 13, 2012 by phild 6
Gene-r Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 I'm sure Nick Brown has (or had) a near complete Shrine collection.
Chalky Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Think the question was "has anyone got a full set" not who is close. Andy Rix has them all albeit one is in pieces. How many was Tim short? He's sold some now hasn't he? 1
Andreas B Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 Doesn't Honky have the complete Shrine catalog, or was I dreaming that?
Guest Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 "Japanese fella" needs to hit me up ooooBob have you got the full collection including the Prophets? 1
Phild Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 (edited) ooooBob have you got the full collection including the Prophets? I have one I might let go for the right price Edited December 13, 2012 by phild
Mal C Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 (edited) I'm sure Nick Brown has (or had) a near complete Shrine collection. remember being at a party in north London in the 9ts, for one of the 100 club regulars and Nick and dawn Dj'd... I asked him about the shrine stuff and he handed me a pile of 10 or so records, all the big ones...first and last time I'll ever be in close contact with them I guess... it was quite a sight I can tell you. And I know were talking about the full set... M Edited December 13, 2012 by Mal.C.

Dave Pinch Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 john manship had a full set up until a few weeks ago when the counts went.....although he`s probably selling them for a third party...wonder who that is
Popular Post Andy Rix Posted December 13, 2012 Popular Post Posted December 13, 2012 I've got them all still.... As we all know The Counts is in bits but nobody said are they all playable !! Andy 4
Tony Smith Posted December 13, 2012 Posted December 13, 2012 I'm sure Nick Brown has (or had) a near complete Shrine collection. Counts? Prophets? Cavaliers? J.D. Bryant? Bill Dennis? The 1st three weren't even known when Nick was collecting Shrine, so I'd say it was far from complete. 1
Robbk Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 I had them all with the exeception of Bill Dennis. I let The Counts go this summer though, so now I'm two short Some of them are crap through Ha! HA! I think that's quite an understatement. Several are really very, very good. But quite a few of the other cuts are "drek" (as we say in Holland). They are "worshipped" because of their rarity.
Pomonkey Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Ray Pollard and the Chansonettes, rest are filler
boba Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Ray Pollard and the Chansonettes, rest are filler the chansonettes is probably the worst one (and I even own it so I'm not talking down stuff I don't have).
boba Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 ooooBob have you got the full collection including the Prophets? no, japanese dude needs to hit me up if he wants to buy a massive collection of all the remaining records he's not specifically looking for... 1

Ray Pollard and the Chansonettes, rest are filler I disagree. Chansonettes, Enjoyables, both sides of The Cairos (particularly Don;'t Fight It) are great as is Cautions (No Other Way, deffo NOT Watch Your Step which is at best mediocre). Eddie Daye is pretty great too. I alternate between loving and hating The Counts which is why I let it go. But some days I really miss it Edited December 14, 2012 by phild 1

Ted Massey Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 (edited) Just counted and i had 14 so it wasnt unlucky 13 got 6 now. the least i paid and the first i bought was Cautions watch your step of Dave Rastrick for 10 quid and the most £700 DC Blossoms. Think Andy got them for next to nothing ( i might be wrong btw ) but loads of trans altantic phone calls Edited December 14, 2012 by Ted Massey 1

But some days I really miss it Flip watch your step over for isn't it right, (i told JM about it at the Stute), a great 45 , wish i had the Prophets - one gold piece, the best record on the label IMHO

Samplat Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 If someone is collecting the whole lot don't you have to include the mispress
Tony Smith Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 If someone is collecting the whole lot don't you have to include the mispress And the remixed versions! 1
boba Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 for the record, in order to not be all negative (the chansonettes is terrible), here are my favorite cuts on shrine (there are still some other good ones, but these are my favorite): Cautions - Watch your step Epsilons - both sides DC Blossoms - I know about her Cairos - stop overlooking me Eddie Daye and the four bars - guess who loves you Cautions - poor loser Prophets - huh baby Enjoyables - shame [wish i had this one!] Cavaliers - Tighten up
Guest Bearsy Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 wish i owned the whole mediocre awful filler label run would settle for just seeing the lot of them together

Dave Pinch Posted December 14, 2012 Posted December 14, 2012 Yep the easiest i got mine for £30 (think it charted in the USA), then leroy taylor takin my time no never charted or anything silly like that but i agree theres been more on ebay than any other shrine 45....the hem release is better and much rarer by todays standards imho
