Sebastian Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Barry what DATE is on the label? There was a thread last week about it. I seem to recall it had the release date on the label.Thank You. Steve The promo doesn't have a date printed on the label. Some old radio station copies might have a date stamped on the label, but it isn't printed.
Steve Foran Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 I have only seen one way way back in 70,s BUT I thought it had a date of release on it. Thanks for the reply.
Guest OSCARP Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Steve, as Sebastian stated just promo printed on, no date stamped on.
Garethx Posted December 11, 2012 Posted December 11, 2012 Should be possible to date this master by the Columbia Chicago number (ZTSC XXXX).
Sebastian Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 Defo no date on the issue! And definitely no date printed on the promo either:
Guest Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 I always thought that this was released in 1970.......if and when I play it out I announce that its one of my only 70s 45s. I don't do "Modern" , im strictly "Northern"
Sebastian Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 (edited) I always thought that this was released in 1970.......if and when I play it out I announce that its one of my only 70s 45s. I don't do "Modern" , im strictly "Northern" It most likely is from 1970 going by the ZTSC numbers. Check this out, the Eddie & Dutch 45 got mentions in the press in mid-March 1970 as being a "big seller" and that 45 was mastered before Mel Britt: ZTSC 142558 - Hindal Butts "Ž— Welfare Cadillac - M-S 220 ZTSC 142559 - Hindal Butts "Ž— In The Pocket - M-S 220 ZTSC 142560 - ZTSC 142561 - ZTSC 142562 - ZTSC 142563 - ZTSC 142564 - Raymond John Michael - Let There Be Love - IVANHOE 501 ~ ZTSC 142585 - Eddie & Dutch - My Wife, The Dancer - IVANHOE 502 ZTSC 142586 - Eddie & Dutch - Can't Help Lovin' That Girl - IVANHOE 502 ZTSC 142587 - ZTSC 142588 - ZTSC 142589 - ZTSC 142590 - ZTSC 142591 - ZTSC 142592 - Mel Britt - Love Invented Misery - FIP 650 ZTSC 142593 - Mel Britt - She'll Come Running Back To Me - FIP 650 ZTSC 142594 - ZTSC 142595 - ZTSC 142596 - ZTSC 142597 - ZTSC 142598 - Jerry-O - The Funky Chicken Yolk - BOO-GA-LOO 107 ZTSC 142599 - Jerry-O - Get A Line - BOO-GA-LOO 107 Edited December 12, 2012 by Sebastian
boba Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 in another thread i posted the copyright was nov 6 1969. so the record might have been released early 70
Sebastian Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 (edited) in another thread i posted the copyright was nov 6 1969. so the record might have been released early 70 Most likely. I found a ZTSC number for the 45 on the IVANHOE label prior to the Eddie & Dutch mentioned above: ZTSC 142564 - Raymond John Michael - Let There Be Love - IVANHOE 501 That's about 30 numbers prior to Mel Britt. It got a review in Billboard on February 28, 1970. Edited December 12, 2012 by Sebastian

Sebastian Posted December 12, 2012 Posted December 12, 2012 All I have to say to the (unfunny) smartass in the other thread is VINDICATED. Haha! Might be a good idea to merge the non-sales posts in this thread with the other thread?
