heres a funny thread....as i learnt my soul trade @ venues such as 100 club stafford leicester & hinckley...some one once mentioned to me and a bunch of friends one nite that he could tell where we went in the 80's by the style in which we danced ...he said we were all definately stafford girls....and he was right ....do you think its possible to tell where we went by the way we dance????

Stare or watch you, watching people dance is quality, its what you do a dos.

Talk rubbish, dance, and watch people dance. quality do..oh and listern to the sounds

There's a definate clumpy crop circling style that developed in the 80s at Stafford, Hinckley, Leicester that was different from the floaty acrobatic style at Wigan and up north, and it travelled down to the 100 club as well. I think it was mostly because lads started wearing Doc Martin shoes and brogues rather than softer shoes so you had to pick your feet up, but also it seem to suit the sounds of things like Ray Agee - I'm losing again, The Executive 4 - A good thing going, A.C. Reed - Baby's been Cheatin, Bud Harper - Wherever you were, Lonnie Lester and many others...

The best exponent of the form was Tommo from Leicester. You had to make sure you always danced with a couple of fingers through the middle of your latest discovery as well...

lol @ crop circling...i fink we developed a more sedate type of a dance @ stafford due to the more general acceptance of down tempo sounds...after what was in my bros wigan era...if it aint 100 miles an hour its crap

Ive heard this before too!

I went to Vivos (Soul in the City) few years back, dancing away, I noticed some guys watching me. At end of nite, he came over to me and said 'did I used to go to Regency' and reeled other places too - all of which I had gone to! I asked him how he knew - he said coz the way I danced but all his mates said he was wrong!

Also had other people say that I must have been around in the 80s coz way I dance - I did say I was very young at the time!!!

I didnt think it possible but shane youve managed it,to become even dafter than that franklin character you just cant compare that lot at stafford to the superberb dancers of the casino.

Bang on Andy! We could do the PROPER splits in them days LOL. Not those half-baked ones they do these days but then again with the advent of Bruce Lee and Kung Fu films we all did some type of martial art. BTW seem to remember dancing to the Executive 4 & Ray Agee (when they were c/up) at Wigan long before the days of Stafford.

What do their teenage kids think when their dad comes downstairs dressed like that? i bet they never invite their friends round on saturday nights

Put "So is the sun" or "i don't know which foot to dance on" or "elusive" and off they go into the "Cleethorpes Shuffle" -which involves a sidesways slide movement across the floor. know what I mean ?

I remember seeing Val, Jo and some others doing the shuffle dance to the likes of Challenge my love, Feeling is Real...e.t.c down the 100Club in the early 90's. Also there was this guy who used to dance in a line from left to right,..........always the same movements,no variation..............never knew his name, but he had a pony tail..................?!

As for myself, i probably looked a right tit, but "when you're young" and all that, who gives a s**t!!!!!!
