Rich B Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 When I first heard that record (Brit, about early '75) I though "200lbs of natural born joy" seemed a tad excessive - now it would appear I am more of a soul "heavy weight" than Oscar! 1
Peter99 Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Oscar has made some great records hasn't he. Main String, He Sent Me You, I Got What You Need etc. Great voice, great records - and what a cool name Oscar Perry! Peter
Rich B Posted December 8, 2012 Posted December 8, 2012 Well said Peter, "He sent me you" and "Main string" are top drawer - but h did all those things on Yellow Sun (?) to did't he? "Wind me up"/"Let me do it" and there is a bunch of stuff on Spotify. Can I say that here? A great soul voice.

Main String was the first one that had me hooked - got a few of em in me box somewhere.
Rich B Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Don't forget the flips Peter, some lovely stuff. Isn't "Come on home" on the flip of "Main string"? Top drawer!
Peter99 Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Just been to look for it and can't find it Rich - I don't think I've ever flipped it to be honest. Checked on discogs and the flip appears to be I Was Right - just played that and it's top drawer soul music too. I'll give this a spin in the record of the day thread/room. I must play my flips more! Cheers Rich Peter
Prophonics 2029 Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Been playing the b side of Do It Till Your Satisfied, very Barry White slow sexy but heartache track. 1
Prophonics 2029 Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 (edited) Do It Till Your Satisfied LP has some good tracks on as well, need to Google for more LP's by him. Edited December 9, 2012 by Prophonics 2029

Cheers Rich Peter Probably on the flip of one of his others Peter - when I recorded them to put on itunes I didn't note that very important piece of info - just have a bunch of random OP tracks! I don't think I have heard anything by him I didn't like though. best, RB Wished I had taken my own advice more often! 1
