Guest Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 Mentioned once before how 'Spiral Staircase - More Today Than Yesterday ' always sounds better in the Summer, so thought i would try & start a thread of favourite Northern Soulful Summer Sounds. So i will start the ball rolling with this oldie by Ben Aiken on Loma, summer is on it's way !

Sean Hampsey Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 I always felt that "Groovin'" by The Young Rascals & "Oh How Happy" Shades of Blue were great Summer time tunes from the 60's. William DeVaughn "Be Thankful For What You've Got" takes some beating though. Diamond In The Back, Sunroof Top, Diggin The Scene, With a Gangsta Lean, Oh Yeh! Sean Hampsey
Guest Posted April 24, 2006 Posted April 24, 2006 Main Change "Sunshine is her way" Nice one that Bet the change of pace, half way through, throws the dancers a bit though.

Guest Polyvelts Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 I used to love a record called "Summer comes along' it was on a brilliant tape I had that I think was made by Robin Salter, was it sung by Darryl Pettiford ?, I cant remember. It was a great tape tho, all big soulful independant sounds circa 1985, There was another track called 'Day by Day' by Joseph Cotton - does anyone know either of these tunes ?
Guest Dirk Tiggler Posted April 25, 2006 Posted April 25, 2006 All ways like to sing to Nella Dodds 'come back, baby come back' (or sumat like that) with the sun still shining through the curtains at 9:45pm -ade
