Guest For Real Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 LR_Superstars___Track_2.mp3Just dredging through a pile of records and refound the L R Superstars album, Sayin it, on Rare Grooves. Bought it for fiver on Ebay a couple of years back when I found it by chance. But strikes me that I've never seen another copy anywhere. Doesn't mean it's rare, I know, but does anyone else know? In addition to 'I just can't say it' (one of my favourite 80s songs) the album has other great tracks. I've tried to attach one, 'Say Yeah', for your listening pleasure! First time I've done this so fingers crossed.... Cheers Mark
Guest Dodger Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 There was a discussion about this album recently on the Essential Modern Soul forum. 500 copies produced apparently plus it was released on CD (which is also hard to find). Good album. Roger

Good album. Roger 500 produced but I think sales were poor, so whether all 500 are in circulation at this point who knows. It was connected to Soul Bowl in some way I seem to recall. Agree great LP

Guest soultempo Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 LR Superstars released a USA 12" in the 1980s. An unissued LP was discovered, and given an official UK only release on the "rare groove" label, in the 90s, by John (Soul Bowl). Apparently, only 200 copies were ever pressed ??? A UK 12", 'Sayin it' was realised, around the same time ... If this information given to me is correct ... ??? then that makes this UK only LP pretty tough to track down. Most peoples tastes have moved on, since the 80s and on revisiting the LP the best tracks, mentioned above, were not on the 2 x 12"s. My "anorak nation" vinyl collecting bud's also own copies (Dave, Kev Oxo, Bob "the crate"). So I decided to feature the LP on one of my shows ... I annonced to the listeners that apparently only 200 copies had ever been pressed and invited owners to call in ... which they did ... ! We managed to account for at least another 15 ... so that left approx. 180 unacounted for ... ! If you see one ... just buy it ... ! Those blinding tracks mentioned above do sound great ... I had a lot of positive feedback regarding this LP ... kind regards, Shaun.
Karlm Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 "I just can't say it" was released on Budweiser Showdown 12 inch and "Come to me" 7 inch on the T.a.p.s. label prior to the uk lp. Great stuff!!
Karlm Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 ..yes and the full previously unreleased LP was also released on Japanese P-Vine Cd.
