Guest Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 (edited) I'm not sure about this one. It's the type of sound I can never decide if I think is good or bad. Any opinions ?DON_Tedit.mp3.mp3 Edited April 21, 2006 by Simon White
sister dawn Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Fast and furious Simon, I like it. Excellant dancer played it twice and liked it better 2nd time around.
John Al Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Fast and furious Simon, I like it. Excellant dancer played it twice and liked it better 2nd time around. I agree, better with time. Don't think I'd try too hard to buy a copy but good nonetheless. Goes well with your avatar too! John.
Guest Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 I think it gets better the more times you hear it too, Dawn. I even started to warm to the very wobbly vocals.

Guest Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 104 downloads and only 6 comments ! Is that good or bad or....indifferent ? Apparently the 45 has just gone for four figures...
Mak Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Sorry got to go with Baz on this one , only just though. To fast for me
Modernsoulsucks Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Too poppy for me. Sounds like Belle and the Devotions or similar UK pop-soul. Sorry ROD
Simon T Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 (edited) Is it Peters & Lee without Peters, but with some of Lee's sisters? I can't quite place the singer, but she is quite well known; I can picture her now, a big helga of a woman, blackheads and a grimassing face! natalie imbruglia? Edited April 22, 2006 by Simon T
Guest Matt Male Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 I quite like the strummy guitar and fast drumming, but the vocals do let it down. She can't keep up with the energy of the band unfortunately. M.
Guest Rich Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 I'm not sure about this one. It's the type of sound I can never decide if I think is good or bad. Any opinions ? I'd definitely give it a whirl on the floor to this one - probably end up spewing my guts up though at that pace though However, I wouldnt burst a gut trying to track it down though.
Cheltsoulnights Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 I'm not sure about this one. It's the type of sound I can never decide if I think is good or bad. Any opinions ? out of key out of here
Guest Adam G Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 God Awful had to go and listen to Bobby Bland to pacify my ears
Guest Paul Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 I'm not sure about this one. It's the type of sound I can never decide if I think is good or bad. Any opinions ? Hello Simon, Is it good or is it bad? That's the question. The answer, in one word, is "yes" and "no". As in "Yes, it's pretty bad" and "No, it isn't very good". Paul Mooney
Guest Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Turns out it's from Detroit and a big Northern soul hero is invlolved.
Guest Posted April 20, 2006 Posted April 20, 2006 Goodish vocals... totally undancable even by good shuffler standards if you're dancing to the top layer beat... crazy!
Guest Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I've been asked if i wouldn't mind taking the soundfile off the posting by someone who's not a member the the list , presumably to protect the investment ! Thanks for all the comments.
Guest Matt Male Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I've been asked if i wouldn't mind taking the soundfile off the posting by someone who's not a member the the list , presumably to protect the investment ! Thanks for all the comments. That's not right is it? We're not even allowed to express an opinion on someone's new find now? Not blaming you Simon but I'm surprised you took it off considering what you said on an earlier thread and plus if the person involved is not even a member of soul source surely they have no right to dictate what goes on on here? Do they own the copyright? I think people who are scared others will pick up their new discoveries should post only snippets in future. It's not like we even had a label, artist or even title etc... If i hear it out i won't be dancing to it in protest. It wasn't that great anyway.
pow wow mik Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 you did ask more people to give opinions & often I'm not fussed either way so I dont, but I thought that was absolutely rancid, sorry.
Quinvy Posted April 21, 2006 Posted April 21, 2006 I'm not sure about this one. It's the type of sound I can never decide if I think is good or bad. Any opinions ? I recognise it, but can't put a name to it yet. Must have been something that I had when I was collecting in the 1970's. Don't push your luck, I'll have to get my thinking cap on. I would say that the record isn't worth the debate anyway, and that anyone paying 4 figures for it is just mad. That's just my humble opinion of course. If it was a tenner I wouldn't buy it.
Guest Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 pop musik! muriel day meets my waking nightmare, james coit!!!!
Simon T Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Is it Rene & Renata, without Rene, but with the sound engineer wearing his jumper with the rose stuck up his arse?
Guest Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 lol- time to take it down i think before i get into bother....
Simon T Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 (edited) lol- time to take it down i think before i get into bother.... I know what it is, it's the follow up to 'Sing Little Birdy' by Pearl Carr & Teddy Rodgers, but with out Pearl! Edited April 22, 2006 by Simon T
Guest Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 i'm told its a detroit record, produced by a major detroit name....maybe he was having an off day.....
Simon T Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 i'm told its a detroit record, produced by a major detroit name.... General 'Motors' Johnson with Henry Ford on triangle?
Simon T Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Apparently the 45 has just gone for four figures... Is that 4 figures or 4 fingers of Madam Palm? He can have a studio acetate of me strumming my prepuce for £999!
Simon T Posted April 22, 2006 Posted April 22, 2006 Seriously though Simon, it's not a track by Sylvia Bennet is it? I know she was produced by Frank Wilson in the eighties.
Makemvinyl Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 I'm not sure about this one. It's the type of sound I can never decide if I think is good or bad. Any opinions ? Sounds like a poor mans version of Dionne Warwick on ACID ARRANGEMENT IFFY VOCALS SNATCHED AND OUT OF TUNE But if cleaned up and revocalised could be passable IMO
Godzilla Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 I know what it is, it's the follow up to 'Sing Little Birdy' by Pearl Carr & Teddy Rodgers, but with out Pearl! Teddy Johnson actually, Simon You have to be careful with Eurovision stuff - the fans are even more rabid than the people on here! Godz

jocko Posted April 23, 2006 Posted April 23, 2006 104 downloads and only 6 comments ! Is that good or bad or....indifferent ? Apparently the 45 has just gone for four figures... Like somebody else said, don't normally comment but since you seem to keen to hear from people listening, its absolutely awful, even with your pop hat on you surely can't like this. Sounds like it was recorded on one of those karaoke machines, sometime last week, oops sorry wrong thread Cheers Jock
Guest Posted April 27, 2006 Posted April 27, 2006 Bloody awful mate, I heard a better tune today sung by a pissed soaked tramp outside Mcdonalds :-) Col
