Soul-slider Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Phew, looking at your lengthy list you've a few good un's...as far as i can see these are the only boots/second issues: POETS (originally on Symbol) DYKE & BLAZERS (originally on Original Sound) SAPPHIRES (originally on ABC) DALTON BOYS (originally on V.I.P) having said that, there is a £75 (or thereabouts) record in there, presuming it's an original ABC 45...the Jackie Lee - One For The Road should have the Northern Soul in-demander 'Darkest Days' on the flip. Hope this has helped, John
soulfulsaint Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 (edited) Trying to date the collection it includes records that were big on the scene in the post Wheel era, and include a lot of records that were pre-Wigan. If you get my drift. I am taking a wild guess here. But did you go to clubs like 'Rowntree's Sounds', along the road from Ralphs in Manchester Victoria. Or 'Motown' in Shaw near Oldham. Or even the 'Seven Stars' in Heywood. Many of them are original and the boots were readily available in Ralphs. Edited April 10, 2006 by soulfulsaint

I used to go to the seven stars in heywood, heard many of the big sounds of that time circa72/73 courtesy of some of the older lads who used to go to the pendulum and vava's remember hearing sandi sheldon, just brothers and many more all mixed in with the pop stuff of that time, groundbreaking stuff eh the first across the board night out lol, agree with the list used to see these every week in both ralph's shops in manchester and soul galore in the oasis market, happy days Mick

Guest Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 My history. Started at the Torch, then wigan. Im from Leeds so friday nights were the Central. Odd times at vavas, white swan (huddersfield), Mecca. Most of the records were bought in the Torch early wigan days (up to 1975 ish) If anyone can give me an idea of prices I would be very greatfull. Thanks. Stuart.
Guest Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 To Steve z. Thanks for the phone call, but why the slagging? I posted on the forum in good faith! All I am trying to do is find out more about the records I have. Because I dont remember the name of the DJs you seem to think I was not on the soul scene. It was near 30 years the last time I went to a alnighter. I did the Torch, Wigan,Leeds central. The odd time at vavas, Blackpool, Halifax, etc. If you require sworn leters that i was there, I will try and get them for you. If you were offended when I said a"coloured" friend instead of black I apologize. (one was called Ceaser, the other Adel) (( are they still around)) Regards. Stuart (airedale) PS Still need info on my records. Thats if anyone will speek to me now
Supercorsa Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 Airedale, is there any chance of some label scans or pictures of them, this might give people(the more knowledgable about prices) a better idea of value.
