Posted April 10, 200619 yr As I'm across the pond interested to know what are the big 'new' toons right now in the UK Allnighters, top 5's would be good. Not your tunes, just favourites from the Nighters. Thank you in advance Russ Edited April 10, 200619 yr by Russ Vickers
April 10, 200619 yr most played at the mo must be nicole willis if this aint love and dj genesis tribute to betty wright on the modern side and jelly beans you dont mean me no good on the oldies
April 10, 200619 yr the scene must be in a sorry state when a Finnish funk record and a house record are the best the scene can come up with right now. 100's of records out there that aren't played that should be played before records like these should grace the decks IMO

Mind, I don't even know what the first two are. Maybe I go to the wrong clubs?
April 10, 200619 yr Why was it DJ Genisis that went big anyway Just because Soul Sam is playing it, there is loads of soulful house much better than Genisis bet if some one else played one they would be froned upon, just goes to show what a 'name' can do for a record.

So it's soulful house now and no longer disco whether you like Sam or not, at least he has the balls to play newer and lesser known stuff unlike many of the flock . I don't particularly like the said record but there are many, on the northern and modern scenes who don't frown upon the record, you can't argue with a full floor...so called name or not! Soulful house comes under Disco, its Disco for the 21st century It was no way a attack at Sam what so ever, but i was just saying if some one else played the record it might just have been a passing 'mistake' by a maverick DJ. was more trying to point out about crowds thinking if he's playing it it must be good ect, ect.

Russ I know Russ, I was specifically asking about the two "biggest modern soul tracks", neither of which I like or own - one of which is just a crap blag of a Betty Wright song with a beat and the other is new music trying to sound old, which I dislike even more than sixties music, so I guess that doesn't make me much of a modern soul DJ!! CDs winging their way across the Atlantic mate, posted them today.
April 10, 200619 yr Seem to remember Sam playing Sam Cooke's Chain Gang at Brighouse a few years ago. Some looked astonished, some shook their heads but most thought what a refreshing change and it packed the floor!! Haha

Thank you in advance Russ Don`t know if this answers your question as they`re both cover/ups.Both played by Butch, his Masqueraders c/u and his Jean Carter c/u.I heard them for the first time about a month ago and there were plenty of people on the dancefloor so they must be up there.

HahaNothing strange about this, Sam always plays totally across the board, he just knows when to play what at each spot he does. Visit Broughton to catch his full range in an hour spot, he knows he can do it here, so you get the lot, modern monster through to club classic. By the way it's on this Saturday.
