Soulsmith Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Nicole Willis - If This Aint Love This turned up on a CD last week. Its awesome. Decided to buy a copy from JM, but his version is slower - its still really good, but not as good as the recording on CD. Regret CD image is an AIFF file too big at 32mb so can't post here (I-Tunes should compress it to an mp3 but it doesn't!) But here's the JM link https://www.raresoulman.co.uk/searchartist....IGATORS&Format= Any one know what the back ground to this tune is? Any one care to sell me the quicker version? Cheers Col.
Chalky Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 been played at nighters for a while, one of those you'll soon get bored with records IMO

A departure from the funk we're used to from those folks at Timmion Records into a more soulful territory - but all you funk heads just wait a minute! A solid backbeat and sultry soul vocals means this CAN crossover into your territory too! And if you can't hear it, then shame on you! Some great talent here from song-writing to musicianship to recording quality - you know this got to #4 in the Finnish singles chart and stayed in the top 10 for 3 weeks?! IF ONLY that could happen here!!! Instead we get Mariah Carey and that stroppy rug-wearing ginga Elton John. I'm gonna move to Finland.Listen www.jazzmanrecords.co.uk Edited April 3, 2006 by mischief

Supercorsa Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Col, I think it was first released in 2004, I could be wrong though. Also there was a thread on here once, where a national radio station had it up for nomination to be single of the year, but that was at least a year ago.
mischief Posted April 3, 2006 Posted April 3, 2006 Hi there Paul, Cheers for link......sounds like a third version! Assume its a legit re-issue... legit re-issue don't know but I bought mine from them months ago.. mines maroon got it from jazzman when it was first mentioned on here (soul source) I like it.... I think its a good dancer, trouble is any new realeses that get spun get spun to death and burn out to quickly and people get fed up with um...
Cover-up Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 There's a new Nicole Willis single out now on Timmion - "Four Leafed Clover" b/w "Holding On" - you'll get that at www.jazzmanrecords.co.uk too... A-side is a rocking New Orleans RnB style thing, and the flip is a brilliant funky crossover dancer - for some reason the rhythm reminds me of the Delegates Of Soul...
Guest woolie mark Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 crazy beat have got both the 45s in stock i'm bored with them too btw
John May Posted April 4, 2006 Posted April 4, 2006 My initial feeling was i'd soon tire of it, however six months down the line it still sounds great, my boredom threshold must be increasing as I mature ( sounds like I'm a piece of cheese ) cue smilie : The wife has got it as her ringtone on her phone.......
