Guest Dan Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 v interesting gareth thanks for posting up Our story starts in 1968 when a young Scottish lad obsessed with Soul music and in love with all it represented came to the US in search of his favorite records. His name is John Anderson, and he represented the vanguard of the European invasion of the US in search of vintage vinyl, although there were a few US collectors like the Stolper Brothers hunting around it was mainly a European assault. John turned his love of the music into a business and began importing the US 45s and LPs to England. A preview of what was later to be called the northern soul collecting mania. somebody should make a film about this sort of thing
John Al Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 Very interesting Gareth, thanks. It should go on to say that he furnished most of my early collection from these visits - for which I shall always be grateful! John.
Simsy Posted March 30, 2006 Posted March 30, 2006 I was waiting for the bit that said "and they paid $150 for the whole contents of the shop". Kept that bit quiet though, which I guess is fair, but just as interesting as the rest of the story.
