Luckily I have four copies, so they will survive intact, you infantile P-R-A-T!

"As dictator, Hitler gave his personal taste in art the force of law to a degree never before seen. Only in Stalin's Soviet Union, where Socialist Realism was the mandatory style, had a state shown such concern with regulation of the arts..."

 You're not supposed to mention the 'C' word on the open forum ! It will be a blindfold not a hat if your boss Stuart gets wind of your loose tongue !

Though the way this thread is progressing i feel a transfer to Freebasing coming on for us anyhow

Fortunately, Clinical Psychologists have proven that it's impossible to listen to too MUCH Modern Soul. However, listening to too little makes your brain shrivel up like a walnut... (allegedly!)

Each to his own but I think its a great tune. Im a 7ts soul fan all the way. I wouldnt mind taking a hammer to DOUG BANKS- "I JUST KEPT ON DANCING" though, or FATHER'S ANGELS- "BOK TO BACH or MARSHA GEE'S- "PEANUT DUCK". 3 awful records IMO.

Any truth in the rumours that the 'Northern Soul Conservatives Association' have adopted Trini Lopez as an "icon of the one true faith" ??

Lots of 7ts Soul and Crossover tunes have become accepted and played on the Northern Soul Scene. These records may not be a reflection of the accepted styles during the scene's incipient stages, but much of the northern scene (not all) eventually embraced many 7ts soul records. The fact that these soul records are played at Northern Clubs alongside predominantly 6ts records, in my mind qualifies them as Northern Soul records. If people that frequent Northern Soul clubs dance to 7ts soul records then that surely makes the record a Northern one? It might not be traditional Northern Soul but these records were played by DJs and embraced by punters who also loved the 6ts sounds.

What's that in the decks?

It's northern soul? NO!

It's soul? NO!

It's even music? NOOOOO!

IT'S MODERN RUBBISH!!!

Lucky there's a secret hero with the historic mission of destroy all the 12" and 7" pieces of modern rubbish.

There's a light at the end of the road.

Northern Soul will prevail!

Dear me, some of you are going to get burnt ears with all the steam coming out of them

I actually thought the original photos were quite funny - especially as we know that originally Pete "accidently" broke the Carstairs, but has used his broken copy for all manner of amusing photo shoots since....

Andy..Just because a record is played in Northern do's.....does not make it a Northern tune, I except that many modern crossover tunes are played,I dont mind, You have got to try and please the all the punters a least a little of the time ,my own little gripe about the scene is that not enough 60's R&B is played....but thats only because I am a big fan of it,as for modern...there are many good tunes, even newish tunes ( crazy world or soul on wax ) nothing wrong with em ,not Northern and never will be

As for the Carstairs....this was hyped up at the time as being a great new find....but in reality it is just a very average modern tune....just my opinion of course

Don't know what all the fuss is about, it's only a crappy 2nd issue/boot/whatever

No strictly true Jamie, it's the only real issue - the bootleg is the vinyl white demo, the pink ones are real. albeit they were probably pressed a while after the proper white demos.

By the way, I didn't accidentally break the record, I deliberately smashed it, but that was because it hissed all the way through and was unsellable. Even I wouldn't be daft enough to smash something I could get 40 quid for. It did feel good though

Yes it's a portable sander, for sanding down doors, window frames, crappy 70's records
