Guest mel brat
Any truth in the rumours that the 'Northern Soul Conservatives Association' have adopted Trini Lopez as an "icon of the one true faith" ?? Guest andyrattigan
Give over ......its never been Northern Bazza Lots of 7ts Soul and Crossover tunes have become accepted and played on the Northern Soul Scene. These records may not be a reflection of the accepted styles during the scene's incipient stages, but much of the northern scene (not all) eventually embraced many 7ts soul records. The fact that these soul records are played at Northern Clubs alongside predominantly 6ts records, in my mind qualifies them as Northern Soul records. If people that frequent Northern Soul clubs dance to 7ts soul records then that surely makes the record a Northern one? It might not be traditional Northern Soul but these records were played by DJs and embraced by punters who also loved the 6ts sounds. Link to comment Social source share

Andy..Just because a record is played in Northern do's.....does not make it a Northern tune, I except that many modern crossover tunes are played,I dont mind, You have got to try and please the all the punters a least a little of the time ,my own little gripe about the scene is that not enough 60's R&B is played....but thats only because I am a big fan of it,as for modern...there are many good tunes, even newish tunes ( crazy world or soul on wax ) nothing wrong with em ,not Northern and never will be As for the Carstairs....this was hyped up at the time as being a great new find....but in reality it is just a very average modern tune....just my opinion of course Bazza Link to comment Social source share

Pete S
Don't know what all the fuss is about, it's only a crappy 2nd issue/boot/whatever No strictly true Jamie, it's the only real issue - the bootleg is the vinyl white demo, the pink ones are real. albeit they were probably pressed a while after the proper white demos. By the way, I didn't accidentally break the record, I deliberately smashed it, but that was because it hissed all the way through and was unsellable. Even I wouldn't be daft enough to smash something I could get 40 quid for. It did feel good though Link to comment Social source share
