Gene-r Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Sly Johnson - I've got to get over - tmp-ting Bill Johnson - It aint never gonna die - Jocida Both very nice - and probably selling for around the £20 mark here. The Syl Johnson 45 is a nice uptempo, but laid-back, soul dancer which reminds me of Eddie Floyd in a way. I thought of "Knock On Wood", but it seems it's only an uncanny resemblence. The Bill Johnson 45 was Ady Croasdell's Z Z Hill cover-up from the mid-80s. Its B-side is also a good dancer - surprise surprise, it's the original version of Johnny Nash's "You Got Soul"!

Djr Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 not sure if this is sad or funny, but a large postal truck got into an accident outside Philadelphia (not too far from where I live), spilling the contents all over the road. All I could think of was "I hope none of the 45s I recently purchased off the internet were in that trailer".....

Guest Andy BB Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 Got quite a few packages through this week Always look forward to listening to new acquisitions but the way I receive them is just as entertaining. I got home from work the other tonight and my darling partner tosses some record mailers at me with a cheery "Records...You better not have been buying more of that white Wigan sh*t!" (They weren't, they were seventies, which is almost as bad in her ears, always good for a few grunts and glares the modern stuff)
