Both very nice - and probably selling for around the £20 mark here.

The Syl Johnson 45 is a nice uptempo, but laid-back, soul dancer which reminds me of Eddie Floyd in a way. I thought of "Knock On Wood", but it seems it's only an uncanny resemblence.

The Bill Johnson 45 was Ady Croasdell's Z Z Hill cover-up from the mid-80s. Its B-side is also a good dancer - surprise surprise, it's the original version of Johnny Nash's "You Got Soul"!

Lots this week

DJ Genesis - Tribute to Betty - Subgroundz

Candi Staton Young Hearts - WB Demo

Jimmy Hughs - It aint what you got - Atlantic

The Willows - Outside the city - MGM Demo

Reflections - Just like, Romeo & Juliet - Golden World

Reflections - June Bride - Golden World Demo

Not a lot of the cheep Goldenworld 45s left to go so ime gonna have to start saving my pennies up :shades:

Brilliant track!!!!!!!,Jock O`Connor used to play this at the Allanton allnighters about 90/91,it absolutely blows the cobwebs off.I`m gonna start giving this a load o spins up here north of the Border.

I think Jock got it right when he called it " the daddy of all instrumentals."

One for me this week.. .Doug Phillips - You Really Know How To Hurt A Guy - Atco... won a copy of this a couple of months back which the seller unfortunately sat on and broke! Then got outbid (sniped at the last minute ) on a second copy. Finally got a third one which ended during Prestatyn weekend - cheaper than the previous two copies as well

not sure if this is sad or funny, but a large postal truck got into an accident outside Philadelphia (not too far from where I live), spilling the contents all over the road. All I could think of was "I hope none of the 45s I recently purchased off the internet were in that trailer".....

Funny, but it would have wrecked my nerves if I was expecting any records from Philly at the moment whistling.gif

Through the door this week:

Towanda Barnes - Love slips thru my fingers

Mystic Moods - Honey trippin'

Roy Handy - Baby that's a groove

Billy Wells - Girl watcher

There's been more but I forget so easily. All the more fun to go through my boxes later "discovering" tunes I have :sweatingbullets:
