Guest Posted December 9, 2012 Posted December 9, 2012 Previously unissued track, so no original 7" release...sadly...what a track! If you like that one, also check out his, 'Show Me The Road; on SS7. 1

Ik001 Posted December 10, 2012 Author Posted December 10, 2012 Heard this one on Richard Searlings show many years ago and it's been on my radar since then.
jocko Posted December 10, 2012 Posted December 10, 2012 Pretty sure I have this in house on an old ACE CD, not Kent, If it is the one I am thinking of it was out before I started buying CD's so pre 2002 (I know, I was slow!) Will dig it out tonight if noone finds any more info. It was a pretty good CD if I remember rightly.

TheBigO Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 There are toons then there is Arthurs Stay By Me! I remember Randy Cozens playing this to me down the phone as soon as he had it in his sweaty palms, as we were both huge Arthur fans, and after al,most 10 repeats we were both agreed, the best Arthur song ever. Has it all, one that every true soulie should have and the one that will be escorting me down the slope as I shuttle off this mortal coil! Unissued? What the hell were they thinking. 1
Guest oldsoulgit Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Just played it on you tube, WOW great record.
Mr Smithy Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Outstanding!! but I'm trying to think of a duff track that Arthur made. Aside from the dodgy covers on the Dot album. It's not easy. Consistent to the end. Sadly missed. 1
TheBigO Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 Arthur remains one of my all time top 3 singers (of all time mate!) with just great soul track after soul track oozing forth. His life story makes a bloody good read too so if you haven't got your Xmas pressie to yourself sorted out yet then I suggest: Get a Shot of Rhythm and Blues: The Arthur Alexander Story Paperback by Mr. Richard Younger (Author) Fantastic yet sad read about one of the great unsung heroes who influenced everyone from The Stones to the Beatles to countless soul acts throughout the years.

His version of The Wanderer is pretty fab too.Happy memories of the early local 6T's scene late 70's spent at countless 'Soul Nites' held in back rooms in pubs, church halls all over Letchworth, Baldock and Hitchin. Enjoy! and whilst we are at it, the first Arthur song I ever heard and made me cry! STUNNING!!!!! Edited November 13, 2013 by TheBigO

Enjoy! That one unfortunately particularly gets up my nose. Just listened again to check, yep still doesn't do it. Such a waste of talent. but Hey Ho, different strokes.
TheBigO Posted November 13, 2013 Posted November 13, 2013 No probs Mr Smithy, as you say different strokes. By no means his best or even in the same country soul league as some of his other stuff but just has great memories for me.
