Ged Parker
ooh just thought...barbara lynn. wonder how many of those who acclaim aretha as the queen of soul know of linda jones, who's leading at the moment? I'd say Linda Jones is leading so far. But a poll with the ones already mentioned on it would sort it out I guess. Over to you Mr. Collins. Link to comment Social source share

Guest Netspeaky
LINDA JONES is to Soul Music what Billie Holliday is to the Blues/Jazz the Number One. Edited March 25, 2006 by Netspeaky Link to comment Social source share
Sean Hampsey
Nominations are bound to include: Gladys Knight, Candi Staton, Jackie Moore, Millie Jackson, Shirley Brown, and Aretha. - All distinctive individual performers. Credit must also go to Maxine Brown, Big Maybelle, Brenda Holloway, Betty Lavette, Barbara Lynn, Thelma Jones, Irma Thomas and Bettye Swann, also very consistent. If pressed though, it has to be the late, great Linda Jones. Totally Unique, Incredibly Expressive, Tremendous Vocal Range and Sheer, Jaw Dropping, Intensity and Power! Oh yes! Northern Boys Just Love Linda. Edited March 25, 2006 by Sean Hampsey Link to comment Social source share
