Guest Matt Male Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Everyone singing Stevie Wonder songs today, usual chart faire except the young black girl Paris Bennet who sang a funky version of 'All I Do' the beautiful Tammi Terrell song. I had no idea it was written by Stevie Wonder. Is it also true it was never released by Tammi Terrell as a 45? Good to hear it on TV anyway. Matt
Kerry F Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Absolutely beautifull song, one of my faves , and pretty sure it was never released , .
Simsy Posted March 19, 2006 Posted March 19, 2006 Keep waiting for Taylor Hicks to do a Ray Charles number.
Guest SteveC Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 (edited) The Stevie Wonder is on either Life of plants or the other album that was released either side of it. Great version - great song. There again - my ever worsening memory may be playing up again - will try and produce soundbite 4 tomorrow if there is one. Edited March 20, 2006 by SteveC
BrianB Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Never released on a single by Stevie or Tammi. Brenda Holloway also did an inferior version. I thought the version by Paris was awesome, as good as Tammi!
Guest lifeandsoul Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 There is a bootleg Cleptomaniacs House mix, that got a lot of plays a few years ago now. On official release the vocals were overdone by Bryan Chambers
Daved Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 The Stevie version is on the "Hotter Than July" LP. Backing vocals by Betty Wright and Michael Jackson. Awesome. I had no idea he'd written in 15 years earlier until the Cellarfull of Motown CD came out. It seems strange to hear it called a northern soul song as I just think of it as a Stevie Wonder LP track from 1980.
Guest Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Never released on a single by Stevie or Tammi. Brenda Holloway also did an inferior version. Stevie's version was released on a UK Tamla 45 - it's on the flip of something else but I can't remember what. Its even got a picture sleeve! There's a fantastic version by Shuffle Inc from around 2000 / 01 thats worth getting. As good as any earlier version... Miles

And did Tammi really do a version? Never knew that. Would have been written by Stevie quite a bit a earlier than his version then.... Colin

Guest Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 Well it will be in a minute when I have worked out how to do it (and how to stop saying things twice)! Well it will be in a minute when I have worked out how to do it (and how to stop saying things twice)!
