jocko Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Top tune ! As for it being a Richard Tune, Bollox Robie Vincent me thinks Any way enough of that, great soul music, just buy it Hmm definitely a Richard spin and played at that great car park, honest guv I was there. long before Clifton Hall was a twinkle in Steve Crofts eye, Gavin you know you would have been so at home at La Casino Around same time as tricky Dicky played Eloise Laws, think you need to get a better source Mr Freeman. Cheers Jock PS Was Robbie Vincent not just a Southern Searling Wanabee???
Guest DeeJay Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Richard Searling play first Mark. Big record at Clifton Hall. Great record as you say. Dicky boy was playing this atWigan DJ

SteveM Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Hmm definitely a Richard spin and played at that great car park, honest guv I was there. long before Clifton Hall was a twinkle in Steve Crofts eye, Gavin you know you would have been so at home at La Casino Didn't say it was first played at Clifton Hall Jocko, just said it was a big tune there. And it couldn't have been played at Wigan much before anyway, as I'm sure it only came out in 1981. Steve
Guest Bearsoul Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 WHY DON'T YOU MAKE UP YOUR MINDS... WHO'S THAT BY AND WHO PLAYED IT FIRST???
Guest Dodger Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 -->QUOTE(mark.b @ Mar 15 2006, 06:19 PM) link what when you fart pete mark No, it's when he walks in!!
SteveM Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 (edited) Will have to check the release date on the PB album when I get home, coz if Sam is on the tape at Wigan, that surely has to be before 1981 as I believe he, ahem, 'left' Wigan at the end of 1980, and I talked to him about this at the Lifeline weekender. Other recordings at Capitol included 'Crosswinds' in 1979, 'Paradise' in 1980, 'Turn The Hands Of Time' in 1981 and 'Don't Play With Fire' in 1982. The above is from the Soul Walking site Peabo Bryson page. So the mystery deepens. Edited March 16, 2006 by SteveM
Dave Morris Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 According to the lp "Turn The Hands Of Time" Capitol ST 121138 its a 1981 recording. Hope this helps. Great track by the way. Dave.

Been buying quite a bit more jazz so PM me your email address and will get in touch on your return and do a few more. Did you manage to work out the track lists for the soul ones? I have Smile on US MCA I think, but yes another good track, Cheers Jock
jocko Posted March 16, 2006 Posted March 16, 2006 Hmm trying to use quote or reply on here but not working, anyone else having problems. So will have just respond from memory!! Mark should have put a nice winking smily after that comment as had a feeling thats what you were going to say. Quite interesting though as don't remember Pat playing stuff like that then, although think he might have reviewed it in Echoes, to be honest don't remember much of Pat's plays from then for some strange reason, mind I was 17 and brainless!!! Was also surprised about Sam and EL, thought that was 81 and too late for him but just checked and it was 1980 release so it must have been one of his last plays before being frogmarched down Station Road And Sherlock Mannion well remembered, it was 1981 so you are right one of Richards late plays then. And yes I am being defensive who had first plays, still enjoy that game for some very bizarrre sad reason! Oh and to get back to original point, yes its a quality record, one of Peabos better ones as I find him bit too smooooth normally. Cheers Jock
