Fabulous Peps and Ronnie Walker at New Century Soul, Stables at Wolverhampton and CIS Manchester. Thinking about it Ronnie was on at both those venues I think, my memory is crap lately.

Were they on the same time as Sam and Dave? remember the saxaphone player got a huge ovation, was it not the one that became the last night? meaning it turned into an all-dayer

Steve

Oscar Toney junior was brilliant :hatsoff2:

Oscar was amazing that night..I saw him again at the Hardrock not long after, on the same bill as Al Greene & Margie Joseph. No dont think Sam & Dave were on the same bill as Detroit Emeralds were they?

Not read the entire thread so apologies if it's already been covered. I saw Eddie Holman at Hinckley Leisure Centre - that boy can sing! Apparently he does voluntary work with poor people in Philly.

Warina 1984 - Eddie Holman, Jnr Walker same night (Major Lance didn't show)

TOTW Gene Chandler, Edwin Starr early 80s

Hinckley - Chuck Jackson early 80s

Usually backed by Snake Davis....plus quite a few sheets with the lyrics on...

At the time didn't appreciate the live shows, just wanted to dance to records...turns out these we're the most memorable nights!

I've mentioned this on here before,Years ago I may add,

The Ritz all dayer Manchester circa 76 ish

Not the greatest of gigs but certainly one of the funniest,

Barbara Pennington,Evelyn Thomas & L J Johnson,

Anyway if you remember the old Ritz,The stage was revolving,The centre bit turned,So they could get another group on quicker etc.

Anyway time for L J Johnson to do Your Magic Put A Spell On Me,

He sits on his stool and starts to play away,Only his stool was on the revolving bit,But his piano was on the static part of the stage,

Half way through the stage starts to turn,He moves but the piano stays still,One of those you had to be there moments,Piss yerself funny at the time !!
