NiteOwl Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Apologies if this is not exactly following the same thread here... But talking of "more affordable" sounds.. I recall a similar suggestion being tabled during one of those unexplainable discussions at some nighter or other....... it went along the lines of..... "Would'nt it be great if a venue ran some kind of competition/challenge one night - where they insisted that ALL the DJ's put an hour set together, consisiting of the best quality sounds they could muster, but with a total (JM Book) value of no more than £500?" Sounded like an interesting challenge to me... and would certainly bring out a lot of these faves being bandied about here..........
Guest smigger Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Gene Chandler (gonna be) Good times c/w No one can love you more (GBP 15,00) I really should get brownie points as it's a brilliant double sider.

Guest rachel Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 I'm surprised you say that Rachel, can't say I've heard it that much really, probably heard The Primers more often Wouldn't say it was overplayed but not underplayed either - about right really IMO... definitely heard it quite a bit early last year though... well, where I've been anyway (err well obviously I couldn't have heard it somewhere I haven't been ).
Stuart Bower Posted March 14, 2006 Posted March 14, 2006 Agree, great tune.. but more often? Not heard it quite as much the last few months but did plenty the last year or so (including the unissued version) Forget who played it at the 100 club (Butch maybe?..claimed it was an unreleased acetate...) I used to play it but (amazingly) I`ve not heard it played by anyone else in a long long time..

I used to play it but (amazingly) I`ve not heard it played by anyone else in a long long time.. I played it at Percebridge...you was there that night Butch's version is an unreleased acetate...it has male backing...something the two issues don't have for some reason. The issues actually sound unfinished to me when played alongside Butch's version

The issues actually sound unfinished to me when played alongside Butch's version I think its fantastic and don't think I have heard it played very much at all considering, heard many more inferior records played lots more than this and I will keep it in my playlist I think for a long time Edited March 14, 2006 by KarenC

Somebody somewhere pays over the odds, fearing they won`t ever see a copy ever again. Then before you know it everyone`s paying that price!

Somebody somewhere pays over the odds, fearing they won`t ever see a copy ever again. Then before you know it everyone`s paying that price! no matter how much you love Miss Heartbreaker, you only have to do a little home work to find it's value and even less to probably find a copy. Sold one to a Jap Chap just before Christmas for a score. which one...there's three records mentioned in your reply
