Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Doe some kindly soul have a copy of Ed Bruce's Wand 45 "I'm Gonna Have A Party" that they'd like to sell to me? It's listed for £350.00 in John's guide, and a rather more reasonable £40.00 in Tim and Martin's. I definitely don't want to meet Mr. Manship's valuation, but I could stretch to something more than B & K's price... Please PM me if you would like to offload yours... Ta, TONE

Ta, TONE Tony hate to disappoint you but when I auctioned it 5/05/05 it went for £940.. to a top well respected collector who posts on here, so £40 does seem a tad cheap..

Hi John, Looks like it'll have to join the rest of the sounds in the "Records I'll Have To Buy When I Win The Lottery", then... Of course, when I posted this request it didn't immediately occur to me that Ed Bruce was another perfect example of what's being discussed over on the "Anita Harris" strand, having also recorded great rockabilly for Sun Records and hardcore country music for numerous different labels in the 80s. I don't think there'll be too many people on on this forum who will admit to owning copies of "See The Big Man Cry", "Rock Boppin' Baby" and "Mamas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys". Probably only me, as it happens... TR
Guest dundeedavie Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 why wouldn't many people admit to owning "see the big man cry" ???
Guest TONY ROUNCE Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 why wouldn't many people admit to owning "see the big man cry" ??? No reason at all why they wouldn't admit to owning just that one record, big man, they just probably wouldn't be mug enough to admit to owning all three cited titles in the same breath, like I did... Ged Parker Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 the cowboy one i agree and i'd never admit to owning any country tunes Davie Big Man Cry is a country song. In fact a version was done on the Country Hits lable, a bit like out Top of The Pops albums of the 70's, just covers of country hits. This isn't just a country interpretation of the song either given that Ed wrote it. Still a good record though not in the league of Charlie Rich's - Don't Tear Me Down another country 'northern' classic.
