Ady Croasdell Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 I got an E-mail from a Stephen Dennis at Customer Details E-Bay, the subject was "Please update your account" it came through in my bulk mail. Does anyone know if it is legit or not?
Simsy Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Swerve it mate. Ebay never email on account details. Get half a dozen or so a week at work. If in any doubt, DELETE THEM ALL !

Does anyone know if it is legit or not? If it is genuine Ady you will have the mail in your messages on ebay, go to my ebay and look if you have any messages, if not, delete.I'm guessing its a scam anyway but that is a double check.
Guest Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 (edited) Rather than delete, you should just forward them to spoof@ebay.com or if it is to do with Paypal spoof@paypal.com Just type in one of these addresses & forward the whole Email, that is what they prefer you to do. Ebay/Paypal can then put a block on them & try & trace the senders. I just do this with anything i am not sure about & 99.9% of the time it is fake. Edited March 12, 2006 by B-side-B
Guest Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Ady, real emails from paypal or ebay will start as Mr Croasdale - and not Horaces... I nearly got stung first time I got one, had to put in my password and then immediately they wanted credit card details. Thats when the alarm bells rang. A quick change of password and everything was fine! Like someone else has said, if they want to contact you then it will show as an alert on your my ebay page. See you soon honey, Kirsty x

Guest Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Hi Ady Be careful with this mate, it looks like a scam to me!! I get them all the time, and they must be scams that come to me as I have never had an E-Bay account!! Cheers Paddy

Including the bank emails asking you to update your details through a certain link. They would never ask you to do this anyway. The senders of these emails send you to a false (spoof) site where you login-and then they`ve got your login details via a keylogger! Edited March 12, 2006 by The Soul Intention

You do get an email back from the real Ebay/Pay Pal saying thanks etc, then nothing. Can't be bothered anymore. As previously stated - DELETE THEM ALL.
