Dynamite Singletary, The Same Way You Treat Your Man on Dynamite. Obscure whistling.gif , little bit hissy, real grower and has a very good crossover flip.

I agree that the Milton Bennett is an important discovery: a genuinely scintillating unreleased 60s soul record. Well done, Ady.

What is known about Milton Bennet and this brilliant record? BTW is it Bennett with 2 ts?

Posted

When Ady C was on that Craig Charles show a couple of weks ago he played Milton Bennet doing What's One More Lie. What a massive exciting production from first to last thisis. I would really love to hear this played out if I ever went out which I don't. Which current tunes can match the sheer power of this?

Nice one Billy!

Thanks for sharing that. Sounds great. Love the vocal and production.

What a good record this is... have you got a spare, Stuart?

Bennett with two Ts. I'm glad you like it. The insts on the GWP CD which is a cracker and the vocal will be on Vol 2 along with some other corkers like the Hesitations. But you'll have to wait!

It was co written with Larry Banks, the team that brought you Go Now.

Nice one Billy, pity about the intro though, would love to hear the full recording. It does sound excellent, I'm sure he must play it out, too good not to. 100 club maybe? ashamed to say I've not made it down there as yet. whistling.gif

Only a personal opinion, but i don't find the track that scintilating (thanks for putting it up though) . I mean, it's good but dosen't strike me as brilliant. It sounds a bit early 70's Four Tops to me ?

I am loath to criticize anything Ady Croasdell has discovered though, because let's face it he has brought some absolute crackers to the scene, be they underplayed oldies or new discoveries !!

Maybe it will grow on me ?

Which leads me to another point, Does anyone, like me, find that a lot of the time it is tracks that steadily grow on you that become real firm favourites,as oposed to some tunes that you think are brilliant the moment you hear them ?

Yeah, that's a good point whistling.gif Records can sound totally different, "Jades - I'm Where It's At" is the prime example of that !

For what it's worth - i think it's fecking excellent.

That's a strange reply Back Beat @ Middleton

Volume 2!!! Fantastic, love the first one... can't wait! whistling.gif

Good tune indeed hypo.gif

I don't really have a personal problem with it. It was just brought up in one of the threads on the "Soul Source Stuff" forum.

About the large adverts people keep putting on every reply which makes each forum thread several pages long but contains only a couple of replys. All adds to the band width & stuff & also tends to stop the threads from flowing.

Mind you the same thing could be said about including the whole of the previous point that you are replying to on your reply ( if that makes sense? ) , which i do all the time ! Mind you that's only cause i'm to thick to know how to put just part of it up !

Not gonna be everybody's cuppa tee but the thing that's on my deck most of the time at the moment is "Gonna Be There" by "Terry Gengis"

Wouldn't know where to start to post up a soundclip but if you click on the link then go to the 12" section (also on a 7") & scroll down you will find a short sample

The Ebb Tide record on that page is pretty good.

My most played sound of the moment is Gonna Need Magic by the Star Treks on Veep. Also love the alt take of Little Ann, What Should I Do on Dave Hamilton vol 3. Some crackers on there!

Don´t know if very known but playing other side to Rose St John & the Wonderettes - I know the meaning Fools don´t laugh a lot atm. Sounds a bit like Monique to my ears

It gets played occasionally (by me) though it's not on South Camp I'm sure  Orange label Jenmark or something - anyway the same label as "Sunday afternoon" Dennis Lee & The Notables and a few other things.

Yeah Jo used to play this fairly reguarly at Shoes. Good tune probably prefer the other side to be honest.

One that always seems to attract interest when I spin it is Carol Woods - Heartbreaker.

Got mine off Andy Dyson who reckoned it wasn't easy. Think Shifty had it on a list a couple of years back and I think it was offered on SS as well so there may be a few around. Can't multi task in the DJ-ing/dancing department

* Remember Shifty played it on a rarest of the rare Searling program a few years back that was up in the childhood days of soul source (remember it was abs magic first times you could hear UK northern shows over the net, at the same time drinking beers at my mates balcony hearing storys about the Motown security bleep and the tape stealing incident !!) . thats where I heard it.

think he said at that time it was only 3 found but as you said a handful must been found since that. Seen one here, one withdrawn fr ebay, Lew Stanley had one + my copy I got from John Manship . Never got really popular in the north UK or ??

Got my Carol Woods in High Brooms junk shop for 10p in 1980! In with a load of UK pop - totally bizarre, and at the time I only got it because I knew she had done some northern tailor mades with Levine. Result!!!

Certainly got spins at the Dome (Carl Fortnum maybe?) as it appeared on their first anniversary tape, but don't think I've seen it on many if any playlists which is a shame cos it's superb IMO

Anybody got an mp3 of Carol Woods? (can't listen to .ra or .wma)

Most exciting tunes for me are the ones that have just come through the post, now it's Four Sonics - Easier said than done - Sport. It's mint and unplayed, very nice because it's styrene. Awesome Dale Warren arrangement, full of drama and despair.

Another recent purchase is Jackie Beavers - Trying to get back to you girl. Can't really decide do I really like it, sometimes it sounds awesome, sometimes just okay.
