Guest Gogse Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 To the Scottish crew. The semi final is not the only thing worth going to see in April, Bettye lavette has two dates in Scotland. Edinburgh on 29th Glasgow on 30th. https://www.triptychfestival.com/triptych.html?section=intro I will not be in the country for the semi final, wont even see it on Sky (I’ll be in China), but I’m sure I’ll hear the Hampden roar when Riorden scores the winner. I should be back for Bettye. So hope to see the regulars there and have a chance to catch up. All the best. Gogse

Gogse Nice one Gogse although we seen her in Blackpool a few years ago she never really sung much of her northern classics we'll give her a second chance Lenny
Guest Gogse Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 Nice one Gogse although we seen her in Blackpool a few years ago she never really sung much of her northern classics we'll give her a second chance Lenny Good point Lenny. Anybody thinking about going should remember this is part of a left of field music festival, not a northern night. Bettye will probably be singing from her latest album. I first saw Bettye at a motown weekender in Bognor Regis (89-90) and was blown away. How can this little half pint, petit woman sing with such power. Since then I have been smitten by her and have collected all her records…well….ALMOST and for that pun… I’ll get my coat

Cover-up Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 After the Glasgow show (on Sunday 30th April) there's a bank holiday northern soul special at the Liquid Lounge (West Regent Street) with special guest DJs Keith Money (100 Club) and Mikey Collins (Friday Street). Would be good to meet up with a few Soul Sourcers... I'll be the lanky bald guy with beard and glasses behind the decks. Yup, the ladies think I'm quite a catch.
Guest Gogse Posted March 7, 2006 Posted March 7, 2006 "Would that be Gt Yarmouth ? not Bognor ?" consdad I’m pretty sure it was Bognor. I can’t remember if it was 1989 or 1990. From what I can remember the line up was….. 4 Tops Martha reeves Harold Melvin & Blue notes Edwin Star Bettye Lavette Three degrees. Some of these names may merge into the following year’s weekender when the Temptations toped the bill. Big weekends in them days took a lot of drinking. So if anyone can help fill in the memory gaps???
Cheapsiderecords Posted March 10, 2006 Posted March 10, 2006 Just bought tickets to see her in Hamilton, Ontario on March 23rd. Appearing as support to Buddy Guy
