Guest Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 (edited) Seen plenty of violence over my years, never liked it then, like it even less now. But i don't know anything about this incident, perhaps you could enlighten the members ? Usually two sides to every story..... Edited March 5, 2006 by Brett

Simsy Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Uncommon behavior for a promoter to beat the clientele.

Its your first post & you have no "real" name on display so your comments would carry more wieght if you were to introduce yourself & name the venue & person(s) you are making these alligations about, its a serious call to make & one that deserves more respect than this. Garv.

Garv. Agreed. This isn't a joke is it? We're not talking about Manchester Arena last night are we...?

Usually two sides to every story..... no one likes to see violence, but i must say ,that compared to your average town centre,on the weekends.the soul scene does not portray to bad in image in this department.Or maybe i have just been fortunate ,not to have witnessed it.
Guest Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 sorry i will reveal names and all when i have permission to do so the chap concerned is not violent type at all! he is a gentleman and a very well known dj but was badly beaten and had his jaw broken !!! until i get permision ( a lot of you will know already who he is though) this is my first post bear with me while i get the hang of this site please!!!

Garv. Agree with Garv. I get sick and tired of So&So did this and So&So did that. Either name names (having proof of allegations) or just keep quiet! IMO.

Got to agree with that, the northern scene is the least violent of any social scene and is one of it's many attractions although the odd incident does crop up. I wonder if this promoter was ejecting a punter for some reason?

How about starting with your own name, surely you must have the hang of that by now . As far as i`m concerned you could be anyone with a beef with a promoter & using this site for shit stirring. Your approach to this topic is very suspect ( imo) you may be genuine if so tell us who you are or close the topic untill you "get the hang of it" Garv.

If this is the case "Jaw Broken" maybe you shouldn't put info on here if your friend is a well known dj and the promoter done it.. i'm sure your friend will want to take it further... (abh/gbh police involved hospital etc..) so it won't help he's case you telling everyone especially if the person who hit him reads soul source.. (whoever your friend is I hope he's alright) ( hope it hasn't come to this for playing reissues at certain venues )
Mace Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Although your intentions are probably well meaning, through pure frustration and anger over this incident, I hope the victim involved is aware of you posting this on here. If it's who I think it is, then I'm led to believe that he has pretty much kept this too himself for personal reasons, and as it was a few weeks back he may not appreciate the issue being posted up on here. Just a thought like............

If you won't tell us you name. Tell us the whole story . If you're going to start a thread about it, what was the series of events that lead up to this? I refuse to believe a promoter broke someones's jaw for no reason ...
Guest Brian J Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Sweet Jesus!!!! what is going on? ffs, this is scary stuff. Mark Bicknell. Has anyone got it on DVD?
John Al Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Agree with Mark - what is going on? No names, "can't reveal them" - why-ever not? Some people seem to know, others don't. The usual gossip and rumour starts spreading and the facts will be lost. Is this an issue or not and if so, let's have full details please, you do not need permission and would not prejudice any case as it is all hear say. John
Mark Bicknell Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Has anyone got it on DVD? That's not even funny. Mark Bicknell.
Billywhizz Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Sweet Jesus!!!! what is going on? ffs, this is scary stuff. Mark Bicknell. I avise Mike to remove this thread SAP this reminds me a flashback 5 year ago on another list most of my mates had their back to the wall at an allnighter the south side of watford gap. Billy
Kerry F Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Blimey, theres more people in here than there were at St Ives
Guest Brian J Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 That's not even funny. Mark Bicknell. Lighten up Mark.......no use gettin' paranoid until we know the facts.
Guest in town Mikey Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 25 interested viewers. Not a bad start to posting on SS. Obviously violence is something we are all concerned about. In nearly 30 years of attending Soul nights I can count the numer of incidents on three fingers. Er I think that makes 3. So hearing about an incident of this nature is both interesting and informative. I might suggest before you do tho, the person being accused is informed as well as the injured party, so if needs be, both can state their case. Its way too easy to let things get out of hand on the internet, and people can be hung without trial.
Mark Bicknell Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Lighten up Mark.......no use gettin' paranoid until we know the facts. I just want to feel and be safe mate is all. Mark Bicknell

Mace Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 Just spoke to a good friend of the victim in this incident to make him aware that this thread has appeared. Apparently this issue has been resolved and put to bed by both parties involved so can this thread please be closed by the original poster or a moderator as it can only stir matters up.
Guest dundeedavie Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 i think the person who started the thread has done what they set out to do
Guest Brian J Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 I just want to feel and be safe mate is all. Mark Bicknell I know exactly where you're comin' from Mark....God forbid we should ever lose the 'safe' feelin' at a soul venue.

I think that was the original idea Mace........... you could see that one a mile off, post up a part story & hopfully someone else will come up with a name & do the job for him / her. I hope the guy is ok but some of the comments on here are nothing short of sad................... " i just want to feel safe" .........
Guest Posted March 5, 2006 Posted March 5, 2006 That's not even funny. Mark Bicknell. I laughed, but then i am sleep deprived. At the end of the day, people for what ever reason do fall out.maybe they should be left to sort it out amongst them selves. But someone should talk to them about fighting in venues, especially with them being the promotors.not a very good advert is it?
