I've had four records in the post for a month now and am starting to worry, they are only cheapies but wanted them for a spot in the lounge at Yarmouth. Can anybody give me any advice where to chase them up, US post office, Mount Pleasant sorting office??

Thanks

it depends how they were sent

ive waited six weeks b4 now

also some of mine have been opened at mount pleasant and there value checked causing me to pay tax when they arrived.

us post office were useless in my opinion.

ask the seller how they were sent

land sea air etc

ask if he has proof of posting like recorded or similar

regards moldie

If they get opened up and valued at Mount Pleasant, it can add a couple of weeks on to the time getting across.. Basically it has through the Customs who value it. It then goes back to the Post Office who then have to act as agents for the Customs and pick up the dosh owing. Never gets done quickly. However if it's only a few tunes then it normally sails through unless the seller puts a silly price value on it. Then they probably just tax it for something to do.

Unless it's been tracked, then there's no way they can find it, so no use asking. I used to have trouble years ago, anthing that looks bulky seems to draw attention to them.

Patience is a virtue, so they say.

I've recently sent a couple of records out out to people and they've gone missing from the Post Office, unfortunetly there are thousand of items of post that go missing every year - that's part of the reason why the post office were fined recently. I'm only gonna send out anything by registered from now on.

The only problem with having things sent to you insured from abroad is that on the customs and insurance dockets the sender will have to declare the value which will lead to you receiving an invoice for the import tax.

Ditto, waiting on Terry Callier album for over 3 weeks from Germany, but credit to the guy who is investigating, it really is a worry when you buy something nowadays without recorded delivery, I also think that we should all complain directly to the PO when something does'nt show, may not get anywhere but at least they will know you are angry, also I think they have a watchdog that you can complain to but really the only alternative is to insure it ph34r.gif

Thursday I received a package sent to me on December 15th. I had given up hope and the sender had agreed to send the money back to me (Top lady).

its horrible waiting but once in a while it happens. Thats one of the drawbacks of buying off lists or over the interner I guess.

UK customs have got my Chandlers - Your love makes me lonely...they want £54 to let it go. The seller insured it for what I paid for it, the dummy. Anyway I'm not paying it, after 21 days they send it back to the sender, he can send it to me again. Jeez, all he had to do was mark it a gift and put the value at $30

i just got news of a record i posted 4 weeks ago to United Arab Emerates,(Jimmy Mack),It got held up in the customs dept of said country due to the nature of threats of terror attacks etc,was opened, checked, resealed and posted to the buyer. As i stated to him i'm not responsable for for where he chooses to live,so it might take longer and it did.Hes the 1st soul person i've come across living in those parts of the world, but he got it in the end and was well pleased with it.I wonder how many weird and odd places soul people choose to live ??.

3 times in the last month, i've had signed for stuff posted through letter box without postie asking me to sign

Just thought it was a little strange,

I'm honest...so wouldn't say stuff hadn't arrived...

but I'm sure this leaves them wide open for false claims

Bought an Alto Sax out of Jacksonville $500 ! At the time i was an ebay novice and didnt give much credance to the fact that this was his first ebay auction also!

Paypalled him and then never heard from him!??? Looked again and noticed the windows in the photies were Aluminium camper van windies! Thought the Buggers unhooked and moved on to California!!!!

8 weeks later and after thousands of mails the guy mailed me telling the story of how Grampapy got real sick and theyde had to get him up North to a Doc and quick! I did get the horn......

Another one was for an Appolo Saturn moon rocket bought in November for a Chrimbo pressi/ Gave up on it ! Eventually it arrived the following March!!!! By which time the planetery orbits were out of alignment for a Launch! Were having another moon shot this June.
