Guest Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 A Supremes track was issued on a Tamla Motown UK 45 last year- a different storming Northern version of "Honey Bee" from the "Love Child" album. It seems to have gone un noticed by many-maybe it was that ?

FrankM Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Radio 2 !!! We'll all be washing the car and mowing the lawn next. Good track though. Still listening to Trevor Nelson, are we? Radio 2 plays more soul than any other national station and there's always rare tracks as well as the hits on Sounds of the Sixties. https://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/sounds60s/playlist.shtml

Codfromderby Posted March 4, 2006 Author Posted March 4, 2006 Radio 2 !!! We'll all be washing the car and mowing the lawn next. Good track though. please do not be sacastic about my post, everyone knows its far to wet to mow the lawn there is hardly a week goes by without brian mattews playing a couple of 60,s northern tracks, quite often its not the actual track he plays that suprises you but the way he casually says something along the lines of "and that was the monkees with there top ten smash i,m a believer, now a track from 1966 by ray pollard" often he does not mention the "northern" connection but on occaision will say a track is popular with northern soul fans,

Pete S Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 On 7" its the Bside to "some things you never get used to" M-1126 Been played around for years Geeoooordie Before that on Sounds Of The 60's, in fact I think it was the first track, at 8am, was Beverly Ann Gibson - Three dollar bill. Jonathan Ross played The Night as well today.
Guest Netspeaky Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 Have Radio 2 all time in work keeps the none soulies happy, and I'm always surprised with the amount of 60's soul tracks that they play throughout the day.

Dayo Posted March 6, 2006 Posted March 6, 2006 I've been listening to Brian Mathew off and on for years. I'll never forget hearing the Saphires Gotta Have Your Love on his show about 5 years ago. I NEVER thought I'd hear that on the radio! The appeal of the show is that you never know what you'll hear next. It could be anything from an ultra obscure skiffle B - side, to Flowers in the rain, to a Chuck Jackson classic. The guy must be at least 200 years old, but keep it coming Brian! Here's the playlist from saturdays's show, if anyone's interested.
