John 'Give It Up' off the 1st album is one of my all time fave funk tunes - and 'Summer Madness' just can't be touched - way ahead of it's time. Girf
Djr Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Chocolate Buttermilk is a fantastic tune. Probably my favorite as well. Last year I found the first LP for a couple bucks, and I was thinking I'd sell it since I'm more of a 45 collector, but then Give It Up got under my skin...it's not going anywhere now. Who's Gonna Take The Weight still sounds pretty good as well.

Soulsmith Posted March 3, 2006 Posted March 3, 2006 Northern soulies, get outside of the box, Love that funk. John Not a chance. That box was chosen after careful consideration & rejection of the many other containers that were available at the time. The northern soul box has is well crafted, cherished and offers an unequalled level of user satisfaction. Col 'The Box' Smith

Stuart Bower Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I used to prefer KEWELL and the Gang. Before he went to Liverpool that is...
Sweeney Posted March 4, 2006 Posted March 4, 2006 I love 'Heaven at Once' from the Wild and Peaceful LP
Geoff Posted March 8, 2006 Posted March 8, 2006 My faves by Kool and the Gang are Joanna and Cherish. I heard the latter when I was in my car on the A10 about to do a right turn and it came on Smooth FM, the words bought tears to my eyes. I've always liked K and the G, although I only really know their better known tracks, Jones versus Jones and Too Hot are both nice too.
