SO WHAT DOES ' A WOP BOP A LU BOP A WOP BAM BOOM ' MEAN?

LITTLE RICHARD INVENTED innuendo in rock'n'roll....but blues artists were doing it in the twenties and thirties......Bessie Smith sang a song called 'You've got the right key but your working on the wrong keyhole' doesn't leave much to the imagination !!

seem to be on the same wavelength as IN TOWN MIKEY today

It could be said that a metaphor is a verbal equation where a simile is an approximation and a smilie is just a 'ikkle piccy of a face. thumbup.gif

glad we've cleared that up Ged !!! beer.gif Edited by bearsoul

Hi Shane,

not soul, I know, but the original "live" lyrics to this song were:

"If it don't fit, don't you force it,

you can grease it, take it easy.

Tuti-fruti etc."

and, knowing Little Richard, it wasn't the front bottom he was refering to.

Most of the sexual depravation lyrics came from the 50s:

Big Ten Inch Record - Bullmoose Jackson

I Want A Bowlegged Woman - Bullmoose Jackson

Poontang - The Treniers

Work With Me Annie - Hank Ballard

Toy Bell - The Bees ("When i play with my ding-a-ling")

Roll With Me Henry - Etta James

Ride Helen Ride - artist unknown

Not forgetting that "Shake Rattle & Roll" had some of its lyrics rewritten, but one was mistakenly left in for Bill Haley - and it still gets played! Can't mention it here, but listen to the first line after the instrumental break!

Ian Levine stood in front of Brenda from The Exciters at a live performance in Yarmouth and had to guide her through the lyrics of "Blowing Up My Mind" in mime form. It was a sight not to be missed....
