Guest Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Postie brought me a Singing sam this week Grooves are mint but it has a slight warp which is ok playing the b side Move it Baby. The A however jumps the needle? The deadwax has about 3/4" run out and if i apply a little pressure with my finger as the needle tracks in it for the first 5 or so turns it plays fine although the extra drag holding the disc flat obviously slows up the intro. Question is ? is there such a thing as a centre clamp that holds on to the spindle of the turntable and allows a little pressure to be applied to the label area so flattening out the warp on the deck? Anybody?
Guest Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 Thinking about it the spindle dosent actually turn does it? Perhaps a sort of weighted centre holder or something ?Ideas please.
Pete S Posted March 1, 2006 Posted March 1, 2006 I've perfected a method of removing warps from records, all you need is a wet tea towel and a hot iron, the success rate is about 70%, though I do have a few 8" records now. p.s. Surely you only need to play the Move It Baby side?

Record is really old and has suffered prolonged water contact on the label result is that whats left of the label is like a chalky powder?ime going to have to put some sort of stabalizing substance on the label to protect it cause it is really fragile. The A is about 10 tens the record move it is! Its truly an awesome record ?

Yes, the spindle moves, its built into the platter. For record clamps try Michell or KAB Audio. Somone like Audiophile Candy can probably supply one. I think Clearaudio may also do a really cheap one. Edited March 1, 2006 by Stuart T

BTW the Mitchell clamp isn't so clever with softly sprung suspended decks and can at least some aggravating fiddling to get the set up right, then you've probably got to use it every time. No problem on Technics etc.

Although I think that she reckons my records are usually a bit slow! Edited March 1, 2006 by Stuart T
