Just wondering if a list is available for Soul Radio Shows. If it has can someone point me in the right direction? If not I am personally interested in the Gtr Manchester area but a countrywide list would benefit everyone. Some starters:

Richard Searling - Sat 6pm - 9pm - Smooth FM 100.4 (Northern from 8pm)

Soul of the Night Owl - Sun 5pm - 7pm - ALL FM 96.9

BBC Radio Stoke ????? (cannot remember day but can pick it up)

Russ Winstanley was BBC GMR 95.1 on Friday evenings (any info?)

Cheers DWMick

There are soul Shows on Fridays between 7 and 10 on Saga in Glasgow(105.2) and the East(106.6) and West(105.7) Midlands. David Belcher does the Glasgow one and does slip in some northern soul.

They are all on their local DAB multiplexes and your DAB radio might have a national SAGa slot. They are all available on line at https://www.saga.co.uk/radio/home/index.asp

Saga is not on Freeview.

Mark,

You will be up against BOBBY JAY the award winning WCBS-FM DJ from New York. The show starts on-line on March 12th 7-9pm. Titled 'Bobby Jay's Great Soul Performances.

Our Programme Director may look at Northern on Sunday night once we we arrive on Sky Digital and other platforms.

My best wishes to Solar, hope they survive during this next phase in radio development. Its very tough out there.

whistling.gif:thumbsup:

Hi,

Sorry if I misled you on the line-up. These are RADIO guys with major experience, they are not Northern Soul turntable spinners. The station is aimed at 35-59's and happens to feature some Northern.

If you log onto the Test Transmissions, you should get the picture.

As i said Kev cool whistling.gif my comments and good wishes are totally sincere, it just read that you were on every night from 8pm sorry my mistake, room for all styles and i'm sure Solar will survive well let's hope so otherwise little old turntable spinners like me will be out of a job, still it's not a job more a labour of love....oh they offered me your Saturday spot by the way but i declined as i'm happy to stay where i am for the time being plus who could fill your shoes......lol

Again all the very best - Mark Bicknell.

Which award did Bobby win? Having been involved on both BBC and commercial radio shows, I like to learn about presenters - especially US jocks. Murray the K was my radio pin up, along with Alan Freed - the payola scandal doesn't detract from his enormous contribution to broadcasting. Just boning up on Porky Chedwick - and not forgetting the Magnificent Montague - https://www.magnificentmontague.com - You're right, Kev - it's always fascinating to watch radio stations and shows come and go - wireless has come a long way since the Cat's Whisker....good luck with the venture. I've just got to get the wires to touch the crystal then I'll be able to pick the transmissions up.........oh, here you go 'Savoy Hill calling'.....

Mick, there's also James Addy on BBC Radio Leeds. His show is called 'Down in the Groove' and you can search the Net for more info.

Listen out for a show I am doing starting in next couple of months when Pure Radio Stockport goes out on air - not sure exact day yet but may possibly clash with Searling - but I promise to play DIFFERENT stuff every week whistling.gif

I will be looking for any volunteers to come on and spin a few sounds too.. so if anyone interested let me know and I will pencil you in

Hey pal, what you need is a guest that shows what fantastic original recordings can be bought for a tenner, I'm your man. Anyway let me know when you're on and you'll have at least one listener.
