Bit like nowdays we have a northern room and a modern room
Guest Dan Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 i don't care if you trach me all i have some great peaces and i will show them whoeever want to listen ok,whoeever not allso ok. i'm not trashing you, mate, just not sure this is the sort of thing people on here really want to hear. i like loads of other music but don't post it on here because this is a soul forum (not, for instance, an early 80s funk forum). seriously, i'd look elsewhere (though feel free to post anything soulful and to enjoy the other sounds posted by others of course).

Simsy Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Jimmy Trouble is the man for the funk forum, is he not?
Guest Stormin Si Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 theres already a thread "what other music floats your boat" in this forum looks to me like a good place to talk about your funk tastes in there
Guest Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 theres already a thread "what other music floats your boat" in this forum looks to me like a good place to talk about your funk tastes in there yes i already posted a lot of musical styles there but i still havent heard someone tell me what's the difference between soul and funk? when is a track a soul track and when is it a funk track? don't tell me you look at the year of the recording to defing what it is. i think the two styles are mixed up. correct me if i'm wrong
Guest James Trouble Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 (edited) Jimmy Trouble is the man for the funk forum, is he not? that's not 'funk'. This is funk. Might be worth a listen to the new Keb Darge show on the Radio 1 web site. Edited February 21, 2006 by James Trouble
Guest ShaneH Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Nico, Please try to understand the site and its members. If you believe your tunes have some significance to the recent discussions and/or you believe a good percentage of the members would be interested please feel free to add tunes accordingly. Up to now the type of stuff you are pushing our way doesnt fit either category. I also feel like you couldnt care less for any discussion/soundfiles/events already posted on the site. You seem to just want to talk about your own collection of music. I also asked you to keep your soundfiles within one thread which you have ignored. Please feel welcome to join in but try to keep within the general mood of the site. thanks Shane
Guest Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 that's not 'funk'. This is funk. Might be worth a listen to the new Keb Darge show on the Radio 1 web site. i'll give you some real funk too if you want just loading the track

You should try the Soulboys site www.soulboys.co.uk and the Caister site https://www.weekenders.co.uk/caister/ - I wouldn't mention that your a fan of Rick Astley there either tho' - he's not well respected on any of the UK soul forums Cheers Gareth

Guest Dan Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 you tell me the difference between soul and funk?? to me there isn't that much soul is in the voice, funk is all about rhythm, sometimes the two cross over but usually that's the distinction, I'd say - that's a personal view. don't take this personally nico - nothing wrong with loving your music, like i say many of us like different stuff as well as soul but this is a soul forum so we only post soul on it, that's all.

Guest Dan Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 i'll try to keep that in mind but this is soul i think?(correct me if i'm wrong) i'd say it was, yep vocals a bit flat, guitar a bit fuzzed-up, but otherwise not bad IMO
Guest Netspeaky Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 Isn't there a funk forum somewhere https://www.surefunk.com/sureforum/index.php
