Just reading about Roosevelt Grier on the excellent if light on info on some atrists - www.allmusic.com

- Anyway - his claim to fame was.....

A minister now, Grier's most crowning achievement and what he's most known for is when he wrestled Sirhan Sirhan to the ground after the assassin fatally wounded Robert Kennedy, June 5, 1968.

Personally didnt know this but hey..go on son!!!

A fascinating character - American Football star for the LA Rams, Actor (appeared in shows like Man from UNCLE, Kojak, CHiPS, Quincy) now an ordained minister, quite the renaissance man. His records aren't too shabby either!

Renaissance man indeed he certainly is! I believe that he appeared in the tacky 70's Ray Milland sci-fi film "Thing with 2 heads". It's about a dying racist white man who has his head transplanted onto the body of another man who is........... black....with hilarious results...........hmmm! Clearly addressing a difficult subject sensitively, many years before "Crash" was even a twinkle in its director's eye.

I think you can guess which head he plays. I do hope it's true: I've been boring people with this fascinating fact for about 10 years.

he also did adverts or something like for needlework or something just as bad ph34r.gif I'll see if I can find it as it was discussed on RSF some time back.

I think it was KNITTING!! I am a mine of useless info, can barely remember my own name, but this sort of thing sticks in my head.

Always had a soft spot for 'Whose Got The ball Y'All" a cover version of Sweet Soul Music where Rosey Greir and the Fearsome Foursome pay tribute to the greats of American Football. Good song shame about the sport.
