Guest dundeedavie Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 could be r'n'b ..... or is that should be r'n'b Davie
Guest Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Just wondering what are you classing as the fourth room Kev. Modern, conneseurs, northern or classics? For this event, I want DJ's to be creative and play a wide variety of quality Northern, Crossover and Modern. There is no emphasis on full dance floors. The credability of the listen is EVERYTHING..On this occasion.
Guest Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 (edited) Hi Kev...........I SIMPLY NEED SOMETHING DIFFERENT. Please define.Stevie z Stevie, As it says...SOMETHING DIFFERENT. I don't need Oldies. If anyone was to offer a wide set of everything from Stevens and Foster-I Want To Be Loved to Jackie Moore's Both End Against The Middle to The Arcades 'There's Got To Be A Loser to Colour Him Father-OC Smith...I would be over the moon! Mandy Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Kev, I nominate StevieZ .... the man definitely has "something different" ..... bestest record collection I have heard for a long time ..... hands up who thinks Stevie should go and spin a few
pikeys dog Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Isn't this the same weekend as Prestatyn? Hmmm, wonder if the offer would have been there if numbers weren't being hit by the biggest event on the calendar?
Guest Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Isn't this the same weekend as Prestatyn? Hmmm, wonder if the offer would have been there if numbers weren't being hit by the biggest event on the calendar? Pikey..cool out. The Prestatyn organisers are friends of mine plus Goldsoul has a trade stand there. VIP Radio is nothing really to do with hardcore Northern Soul, it just happens to have a spare room dedicated to it. It really does not matter to me whether its open or not. Just a nice gesture to spin some tunes. Kev, I nominate StevieZ .... the man definitely has "something different" ..... bestest record collection I have heard for a long time ..... hands up who thinks Stevie should go and spin a few If he's available...BRING IT ON. The room awaits an interesting DJ selection.

I would have considered playing a spot for Kev BUT I am at the Greatstone as Resident, that night and always show early to listen to all the DJs spots So fame and fortune still awaits.ATB Stevie

Guest Phil Richards Posted February 16, 2006 Posted February 16, 2006 i guess Pete Smith is out of the question then Yes put Pete Smith on
Guest Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 certainly not,but question remains ,will anybody be there. ????? Ted, Plese get real and stop the mischief making. Regardless of VIP Radio or even Prestatyn, Ilkeston is the best attended gig in the UK. The night will be busy. Reason....WE DON'T RELY ON RECORD COLLECTORS! Thanks.

To Be Really Fair Kev wants to compile records outside the top 500 He has really surprisingly called the next book"Records Outside the top 500"( Still part of the original title)But we have to let him know what they are. Those who know what the records are ,that will be in the "next" 500 please let me know.......NOT Kev.ATB Stevie Z Edited February 17, 2006 by steve z

Those who know what the records are ,that will be in the "next" 500 please let me know.......NOT Kev.ATB Stevie Z Stevie, You really need to understand that nearly every record you are claiming as 'the other top 500' I probably have either found in the States from '74, played at Wigan from '73 or compiled with Tim Brown for Goldmine between 1991 and 2004. I like a few on SS have pretty much 'seen and heard' the bulk of the Northern Soul scene's output. I would still rather be James Trouble's age instead of a fossily 49! I chose to write a book on the popularity of 500 songs. I would expect you to accept that as another 'forward thinking' piece of Northern Soul promotion. The fact there's 1,000's more 45's out there is not a book I chose to right. John M and Tim B are far more qualified. But I do honestly believe my effort paints an accurate picture of the golden era(ie the 70's and its subsequent revival in the 90's) Guys like yourself are great underground creatures who fly the flag in keeping new spins on the turntable. I wholeheartedly support where you are at. But give me a little credit here....... Please mate...RESPECT eh?
