Guest Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 hi here i am again,no i'm not gonna talk about rick astley!! i forgot to mention about SAMMY DAVIS JR. i have a lot of cd's of him i think he sang jazz but in a very soulfull way! he was the best vocalist in his area,i've got two live cd's "thats all" "live at the cocconut grove" you should listen to him he was sensationall!!

As well as the lead track, which is decent midtempo, it also has "Not for Me" on it. Additionally, let's not forget his "You Can Count On Me", which made a pleasant change to the Ventures' instrumental "Hawaii-5-0" theme!!

Which I've been asked to play at a scooter club do at the weekend. I'm in two minds about it, not listened to it in ages - can it REALLY be as bad as I remember it?

Certainly not a soul record though.

Guest Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 but you guy's are missing my point,even if sammy sang jazz he sang it very soulfully much more soulfull as the original crooners back then,i see him as one of the originators of soul together with ray charles afcourse! so its not so much about the style of the song not beeing typically soullike(the backbeat) as it is about the interpretation of him on any song he sang! i hear a lot of soul there!!!! nico
Guest NASHEE Posted February 15, 2006 Posted February 15, 2006 good but he made better! i don't know how to put tracks here mabe you can help? drag the tracks hat you want to post onto your desk top(makes em easier to find) below the post youre writing is post options...then file attatchments. in file attatchments part press Browse...select desktop from the drop down box...and select the 1st track you want to add...then press add attatchment. wait for track to upload. go back to your post and make sure the cursor is below the last sentence of your post, then press add into post. you can add other files one at a time until you reach the upload limit for your post. .rm, ra, & mp3's upload quickest and require less space hope this helps Linda

Don't shut me out also came out as a UK single. I got it for 10 pence in the early 70's when our local Co-op was closing down it's Record Department. Some of my favourite Sammy LP's apart from the Motown one are The Goin's great, Sammy Davis Now and Song and dance man which includes You can count on me.

Really made me smile when i heard that first time i think at the time he was guilty of multiple viewings of Oliver in a west end Cinema.

I'd like to pretend we've moved on, but about a year before it was rereleased 'Show Me The Way To Amarillo' was filling the floor late on at do's. Never accuse scoterists of failing to take their music seriously..... I wonder if I should start a thread on 'Scooterist Soul'? Its a completely different animal to 'proper' Northern
