Timeless Records

Dear all,

In a friend's record collection I have found two records on the Timeless label.

Frederick Knight and

Tommy Tate

There are a few liner notes, but to be honest, I do not get what the label was really doing. Is it unreleased material, or was this stuff not at all released in UK?

I was looking for information about the label or a discography, but have not found anything. Could someone unearth the truth?

I am sure Steve G will tell better but it was a UK label, 80's, from Sheffield possibly but not anming names in case I get it wrong and end up with a letter from a Sheffield lawyer, mostly reissue if I remember rightly although they did a couple of good compilation albums, and released things like Controllers and other Jauna stuff.

I have a few lp's on the label but couldn't find them at first glance, will try and dig some out later and post up lists.

Got loads of LPs and about half dozen CDs,some crakcer`s..................Ike Noble being one. all legit too!!

Timeless Records were founded by Mike Ward and Alan Bellman in 1986. They re-relased some of the stuff of Juana Records - the Controllers, Frederick Knight - but also some independent productions - like Sorokas, Ray Brooks, California Executives, Minnie and Tyrone Curry and Willie Clayton to name a few. Always worth checking out the great compilations

They were really trying to release stuff for the modern soul crowd at the time - you had other labels like Move from Edinburgh doing the same thing. I think sales on most of the Timeless releases were quite low.
