Guest Trevski
Ever heard a song and wondered what the hell they were singing about?? Example "(Barnabus Collins) Love Bandit" by Kenya Collins. First recorded as plain old "Love Bandit" by Patti & the Lovelites, there was no mention of 'Barnabus Collins' so why did Kenya Collins include him? Who is Barnabus Collins? Kenya's hubby perhaps, that likes to play around? Turns out Barnabus Collins was a vampire! Played by the actor JONATHAN FRID as Barnabus Collins, in the U.S. '60's TV series Dark Shadows. Billed as the first supernatural soap opera, it ran from '66 to '71. So Kenya's version was a gimmic record, to cash in on the TV show. (prefer Patti's version anyway!) Anyone else got a story that clears up strange song lyrics etc?? Edited January 30, 2006 by Trevski Link to comment Social source share
Soulsmith
Towana - Wear Your Natural Baby You might think the record is promoting the absence of clothes I think it was Steve G that said that advised the record is about wearing your afro with pride. Rob Moss
Is "My mechanical man" by Leah Dawson on Magic City about a dildo I wonder? She certainly sings with gusto about her little friend!! Link to comment Social source share
