Guest Andy Kempster Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 whats the going rate for a definite original of this going for these days, not played mine for 3 or 4 years now and might part with it to get something else prices and conditions seem to be all over the place, mine certainly isnt mint but its in good nick atb andy
Staceys Dad Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 normally goes for about £10 but will take it off your hands for £15..... 3
Guest Andy Kempster Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Generous to a fault. How could i turn down an offer that good. Goes a long way to my next copy of crank wilson
Steve Foran Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 I think around £125 to £150. As a matter of interest I have an Orange issue BUT it is not the Atco 72 repress. Credits Wylie rather than Wylia like the repress, and it has the same layout as the Green issue. Got the provenance with it when I bought it about 20 years or so. Will try to get my son to post it on here as I am crap at that technology.
Guest Andy Kempster Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 Am i either living in the twilight zone or have i got the rough inklings of value seriously misjudged
Northern Soul Uk Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 I'll up Staceys Dad's offer to £20 and stand being robbed
Guest Andy Kempster Posted November 26, 2012 Posted November 26, 2012 (edited) I'm loving that this has turned into an auction although the the reserve price, if there were one is far from being a flog it moment just yet. I was sure i asked for some informed and educated market information from people i thought might offer some help;-) Edited November 26, 2012 by Andy Kempster
Guest chorleybloke Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 Andy - there are several label variations of this, the rarest and priciest being the 60s orange issue. There's also a green issue and 2 types of white demo, together with umpteen boots & reissues. A scan would help your valuation question but I'd say 300 quid wouldn't be far off the mark, more for a minter. Cheers Pete

Steve Foran Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 As I said when 16 year old is feeling compliant I will get him to work the magic with my box brownie. Remember struggling couple of years ago took piccies, inserted card into PC could I work out how to get the image from comp onto ebay. He walked in click, click, click and there we were. FFS! Can I remember? More chance of a lottery win.
Gary Brown Posted November 27, 2012 Posted November 27, 2012 (edited) I've got West Coast Green Label Demo with a Delta Number - pressed at Monarch. My wife won me it off John M's auction for my 40th. Not cheap, as you'd expect shopping at that particular shop! A keeper. Edited November 27, 2012 by Gary Brown

Guest Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 West coast issues are vinyl and not styrene...... don't have the raised "X"
Pete S Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 West coast issues are vinyl and not styrene...... don't have the raised "X" Watchootalkinbout Steve. Most West Coast issues are styrene and if it doesn't have a raised X it's a bootleg.
Cover-up Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 .I want it placed in my cold. dead hand just before they put the lid on!!! Don't rush to buy shovels SS'ers......cremation for me........ Actually, on another vinyl forum someone was saying they know an undertaker and it's not that uncommon for people to want to depart with some of their favourite music. However, there are strict rules when it comes to cremation and you can't burn other stuff, like plastics. So, sometimes the undertaker will cheekily just remove the offending article without anyone noticing... so, to re-phrase - don't all rush to check the crematorium bins SS'ers... 1
Guest chorleybloke Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Here's mine - upgraded to the Detroit address w/d from the plain w/d, although quite why this is an upgrade I can't really explain.. except in my head it is Cheers......Pete
Mal C Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 I don't think I'd ever buy this record, having it on CD is enough, but what's the definitive release, the WD with or without addy, green, or orange issue and all that, funny actually, cause George Blackwell, or Salvadors is in the same stable really, and I'd have an orig of either one of those at a snap... just interested. Mal

Your losing it buddy...........this is the vinyl issue, not pressed at Shelley Products NY so it has no raised "X" (Shrine etc) i`m pretty sure its east coast press. This one! Also..................I bought this from yourself! Edited November 28, 2012 by Guest
Cover-up Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 Here's a question - I'm too lazy to count them up but it seems like there's about, what 8 different pressings of this? Why wasn't it a hit? And why did they keep on pressing it and pressing it? Most small labels would have quit after one go. Or wasn't HIB a small label? Is there anything else on it? Questions, questions...

Questions, questions... Some of the later ones were illegal bootlegs. The reason why there are quite a few different variations of the original 60s press is the different pressing plants and locations around the US. There are actually 3 different demo`s of the 45, 2 white....with different label layouts and 1 green west coast styrene promo. And thankfully for us it wasn't a hit......I dont think HIB had any other outings. Edited November 28, 2012 by Guest
Premium Stuff Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 I have always considered that the white DJ copy with the Detroit address as shown below is the demo version of the orange label issue (Wylie credit) shown above. The other white DJ is the demo version of the green label vinyl issue shown above. Cheers Richard
Davenpete Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 https://www.popsike.c...humbs=&currsel= Is it me or have at least 2 bootlegs gone for well over £100 on there? Dx

Prophonics 2029 Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 East - West what's the difference unless your first names Fred. Sorry! A bit of a fu@% up with the paper work today Mr East your free to leave anytime you like. Are there more styrene than any other version of the press?
Prophonics 2029 Posted November 28, 2012 Posted November 28, 2012 (edited) Plenty of new green UK and usa centres around. Edited November 28, 2012 by Prophonics 2029

Julianb Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Yep! Thought so Steve. I played it a few years ago in Barrow and a 'know all' came up and said 'that's a pressing'. Told him to f*** off and to go away and educate himself Julian
Steve Foran Posted November 29, 2012 Posted November 29, 2012 Nicely put Julian. Dont often play mine out as not many know about the orig orange issue so you end up defending yourself.
Guest Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 Here's mine - upgraded to the Detroit address w/d from the plain w/d, although quite why this is an upgrade I can't really explain.. except in my head it is Cheers......Pete The Atco distributed copies were done at a number of different pressing factories. Some used the Detriot address some did not None of the record variations were made in Detroit
