I used to like the cover up names that lasted almost as long as the song. Stuff like:

The Pusseycats - featuring Virginia Blakeley - Winds kept laughing at me.

And also cover - ups by Keb. What was the point. As stated earlier he sounds like he is gurgling with a bag of ball bearings in a wind tunnel.

Didn't Dave Flynn compile some sterling research on this subject for the benefit and betterment of mankind!!!?

.and what was that horrid BBC TV instrumental Guy played in the early 80s?

"Ring The Changes" by Paradox on UK Polydor (1968) covered up as "Eve Of Destruction" by the Ross Robinson Orchestra. It was the B-side to "The Wednesday Play", the A-side of which I believe was a BBC theme.

Ironic, as "On The Brink" by Mike Vickers (aka "Boogaloo Investigator" by Matt Parsons) was the previous theme to the Wednesday Play!

"Lonely For You Baby" by Sam Dees was covered as "I'm Lonely" - Dan Brantley. This record does actually exist, and loads of people bought it hoping to get Sam Dees!!!

Also, is it true that "Ain't Gonna Cry No More" by Dave Charles was covered up as........."Ain't Gonna Cry No More" by Dave Charles?

I do remember when Mel Torme's 'Coming Home Baby' was being toted as this amazing undiscovered track by some now-forgotten DJ. I couldn't believe that people didn't know who it was by as it was a very well-known record - the 'B' side of 'Right Now' and a fairly substantial hit in the 50s.

Seeing as your talking of cover ups, had one chewn going round my head today and can't for the life of me remember who it really is. Was played by Pat Brady and covered as Cindy Scott - Too much for you baby. Anyone remind me what it really is?

Posted

Can anyone remember what Roy Dawson ... over the top, was covered as.

If my memory serves me well it was the Southwind movement, or some thing like that ?

Also seem to remember a Kelly St.claire cover up that turned out to be Cathy Carol on Dot.

Sam used to play THe Bell Brother - Give it up - Bell-O-Soul at Stafford in the top room. This may be the one as they sing "Give it up, Give it up baby"

Also from around 1982 there's a record (?UK only) by David Emmanuel called "Giving up on love", it might be that as I seem to remember Pat Brady playing at Cleethorpes.
