Northern Soul Uk Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 (edited) Just bought this from the states for $8. Really nice, and I know it is a re-press as the seller told me, but does anyone know it's history? Original label, ect.? and maybe your thoughts on the tune itself? Thank you Update, just found this on Youtube Edited November 23, 2012 by Steve Luigi
Northern Soul Uk Posted November 24, 2012 Author Posted November 24, 2012 WOW! 86 views and no replies? can anyone help?
boba Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 it's a press of an acetate-only thing. i think it was pressed in the early 90s by one of the vegas dealers -- at least they were the ones with stock of it. so technically you bought an "original" since it was never originally pressed. 1

WOW! Excellent, thank you for the info. What do you think of the track? I also got this at the same time. Again I know it's a re-press, but what a great tune. Cost me $14 +P&P Edited November 24, 2012 by Steve Luigi
Len Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 Don't know it.....and I think I quite like it actually (Needed a couple of plays as you do sometimes) Also, if that was 'spliced' in at a nighter I recon it would work really well. All the best, Len
Dave Pinch Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 the ringleaders was a dave thorley spin. again unreleased acetate...maybe stafford i think.....the mpac copies were pressed up about 10 years ago again with a las vegas connection....some on red vinyl whether they are legit ....well
Popular Post Trev Thomas Posted November 24, 2012 Popular Post Posted November 24, 2012 ringleaders pressed by jo gitanno (spelling) from las vegas, so, about as legit as as an m.p.'s expenses claim 5

Win You Over is on the flip, or was that the second acetate? Anyway both played back then. Butch has the acetates now.
boba Posted November 25, 2012 Posted November 25, 2012 also, the ballad flip of that ringleaders thing is not actually the ringleaders. i don't know who it is though, but it was probably also something unreleased.

Bob, ........ I resurrected a 2009 thread on that Ringleaders' song to ask you or anyone in the know if any other Chicago artist/group sang that song, as I remember hearing it a long time ago (probably before the demo record was rediscovered). As far as I remember, I never heard the CD it was introduced on. I think I might have a Chicago record with that song on it. Do you know if anyone else sang that song. The interesting thing about that is that The Ringleaders and Caver wrote their other M-Pac cuts. So, how would that song get to another label? Anyone know who Caver was? Maybe their manager or producer?
