Dennyj Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Ok I posted a "wants" up for this a few weeks ago. From memory of seeing copies sold on lists over the last couple of years and after doing some checking on popsike etc, I reckoned I'd be paying 250 - 300 quid depending on condition. I got an offer of a minter at 600 quid and so I (politely) asked if the person was confusing pounds with dollars, or were they taking the pi$$. The person replied with some umbrage, basically telling me that this record recently sold for over 500 quid, they'd been on the scene for 40yrs (so have I !), they were "big collectors" (so am I, I think ), and that their mates, also 40yrs on the scene, had confirmed that it was me who was taking the piss by offering 250 quid. I'd be interested to hear comments from anybody who's bought or sold one in last few months, or from any dealers on what they would list this at ? cheers, Denny
Philt Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 (edited) I'd say 250 - 300 tops. Some of these folk would do well to take a sales box out n about over here and see what you're gonna get for undeniably good but reasonably common records. Edited November 23, 2012 by PhilT 1
Wiganer1 Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 i agree with phil...had this twice,,,,issue rarer if was issued at all..
Dave Moore Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Sold last one (Demo), albeit a couple of years ago for 180. (UKP) Regards, Dave
Jim G Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 One this month would suggest you are correct https://www.popsike.com/THE-EXITS-Another-Sundown-In-Watts-RARE-NORTHERN-SOUL-45-Listen/190734019062.html
Mal C Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 paid £200 for my VG+ copy, year or so ago.. M
NEV Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Would have said £300 on a good day on ebay and am sure it sold recently for too much ? ,but think £250 for a patient buyer depending on condition of course
NEV Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 However ... i have done my best to trawl the archives and found this unscrupulous person selling one on here in 2008
Jaco Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Would have said £300 on a good day on ebay and am sure it sold recently for too much ? ,but think £250 for a patient buyer depending on condition of course Whatever price it actually commands, in soul musical terms it's worth tons more. An absolute classic.
Dave Harrison Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Has been near the top of may wants list for a good while too ! One day...
Prophonics 2029 Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Nice off the LP, in stereo as well.
Markw Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Nobody's forcing you to pay the guy £600 and he's not obliged to sell it to anybody for anything lesshalf what it is worth to him in his perception. I agree that the so-called 'going rate' (whatever that means) is no more than £300. Depends how much you want the record and how soon you want to acquire it doesn't it? I wish you well with the hunt - great record.
Des Crombie Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Cant remember exactly what I paid but it was over 200 but under 250 for a demo copy Ex earlier this year. So to me 600 seems high.

NEV Posted November 23, 2012 Posted November 23, 2012 Why one got a red 'A' and Nev's got a black one? Possible east coast / west coast presses ?
Dave Pinch Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 a black issue is somethin to behold.... i could understand someone on here asking £400 for that............................ but it wouldnt make that on ebay
boba Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 nobody is pointing out that the ebay auction is not for a M- copy. Either way, I think 300 pounds is the going rate.
John Reed Posted November 24, 2012 Posted November 24, 2012 a black issue is somethin to behold.... i could understand someone on here asking £400 for that............................ but it wouldnt make that on ebay Never knew issue copies existed, would love to get my hands on one of those.
