Blake H Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 A song that springs to mind on this subject is 'I cant take it like a man'. Both Ben E King and Gerri Grainger's version work equally well (IMO) without change to the lyrics. Blake 1
Diddy Morgan Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 what about the empires ... your'e on top, girl  ..........oops
boba Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 the ripples remake "cowgirls to boys" doesn't really make sense imo
Diddy Morgan Posted November 21, 2012 Posted November 21, 2012 not forgettin all those answer songs in the sixties.... i think that was the term used?
Guest Gogs Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 "That other place" I like both wade flemons and susan maghaun versions.
Soulsaddler Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Another that springs to mind is Just Ask Me - Lenis Guess. Also recorded by Elsie Strong - in my opinion the better version. Which version was first? 1
Steve Foran Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 what about the empires ... your'e on top, girl  ..........oops Cheeky!!
Mal C Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Lorraine Ellison - I Dig You Baby / also covered by Mercury stable mate Jerry butler, in fact he covered shed loads for filler on allot of his LP's for them. I'm not saying this is outright bad, but I do think it should have remained Lorraine's own as it were, enter some bright spark who says it was originally recorded by XXXXX... mal.C
Harry Crosby Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 (edited) Mickey lanay, i`m gonna walk, springs to mind here. Love Mickey lanay, but don`t think the female, Diane Minor version gets anywhere near it. Edited November 22, 2012 by HARRY CROSBY
Citizen P Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Bunny Sigler-Will you Love me tomorrow- Odd choice I'd have said. tony
Fuzzj Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 ruby andrews just loving you , i dont think theres a male vocal on earth could do this justice so hence are some songs specifically for women and some songs for men...?
Dave Pinch Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 lollypop man by chuck roberson probably wouldnt work if sung by a woman ....cetainly the x rated version..then again we are in 2012 & a little bit more broad minded
John Reed Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 I don’t think I’d like to hear a female cover of any of Clarence Reids “Blowfly” songs.
