Popular Post Pete S Posted November 14, 2012 Popular Post Posted November 14, 2012 You know when you've got no money but you see a record you really want on Ebay and you just can't bear not to have a snipe on it, even though you know you haven't a chance of winning it? I've got that feeling at the moment big time, six records, I expect them to go for between 60 and 100 quid each, I've bid £26.88 on each well you never know... 4
Guest julesp1905 Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 Chuck enough muck at the wall and something will eventually stick!
Guest DELORENZO Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I do always Pete, but being a poor farm worker, I can't afford nothing
Amsterdam Russ Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 I've now upped all my snipes to £26.91 3
Pete S Posted November 14, 2012 Author Posted November 14, 2012 You know I collect ska and reggae right, I only have about 400 or so singles (sold 3 massive collections) but I would honestly estimate that at least 60% of those were won for bids of a maximum £13.88 or less. (Not sure why I always put .88 on the end).
TOAD Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 i put the lowest bid possible and wait, had some goodies over the years
Northern Soul Uk Posted November 14, 2012 Posted November 14, 2012 (edited) Guaranteed way to win em is to bid a grand, 99% of the time it'll go for nowhere near that, but you're just about guaranteed to win, and it pisses the hell out of the other bidders  Edited November 14, 2012 by Steve Luigi 1

Guest MrC Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 I've done that and ended up winning 3 things at once, all of which I thought I had no chance of getting with my ridiculously low bids, had to go borrow the money of my mum!
Gene-r Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Well? How did you get on? Or has the auction not finished yet?
Guest MrC Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Lost three, won two! Thought there were 6, and although my maths isn't great, 3+2 = 5 right?
Pete S Posted November 15, 2012 Author Posted November 15, 2012 (edited) Thought there were 6, and although my maths isn't great, 3+2 = 5 right? Was totally pointless bidding on the 6th, went for £38.89, knew I couldn't afford that Edited November 15, 2012 by Pete S

Pete S Posted November 18, 2012 Author Posted November 18, 2012 Did you manage to get it in the end Pete? No I didn't Carl, it went for more than I would have paid for it anyway, despite someone very kindly offering to cover my bid for me.

Just as a p.s. to this topic, I didn't win the copy above as it went for £90 or £100. I bid on another copy of the same record last night and won it for £21 3
