Guest Polyvelts Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 9p Soul is night that happens every couple of months down in the small basement of the Betsey Trotwood pub in Farringdon, London, it's always on a Saturday. It's not specifically a 'Northern' soul club but that's the direction that most of the stuff I play is coming from. Aly, Mick and Carmen all have their own particular grooves that flow between Disco, Funk, slowies, Jazz etc - all kinds of good stuff. It was hard to pick 20 records that represent what I play, a lot of these are quite uptempo and earlier on in the evening I play a bit more slower crossovery (is that a word ?) sort of stuff but I think these are the ones that have been the most loved in that dark room at the bottom of the stairs. https://www.mixcloud.com/Ryantown/99p-soul-greatest-hits-part-1/
Autumnstoned Posted November 7, 2012 Posted November 7, 2012 Classy podcast Rob - I've not heard you play Rhonda Davis before - only recently identified that one and I love it! 99p Soul is thoroughly recommended to anyone whose not been before. Hopefully we'll see you at the next one. ATB Mike
