Dave Abbott Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Sorry, but most replies here are 70's northern and would not be heard in a 'proper' modern room these days. Dave - 'who know fack all about modern' aprat from the above ;-)

Guest Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Sydney Joe Qualls- I don't do this Sister Sledge- Love Don't you go through no changes Rare Pleasure- Let me down easy Prince Philip Mitchell- Something for the head Jan Jones- Independant woman
Chris Anderton Posted January 19, 2006 Posted January 19, 2006 Randy Brown "Always in the mood" Chuck Cissell "Dont tell me you`re sorry" Barrino brothers "Trapped in a love" David Ruffin "Rode by the place" all massive around here at the moment. I`d say the classic "both rooms" records would have to be; Lew Kirton "Heaven in the afternoon" Charles Johnson "Never had a love so good" Will Collins "Anything i can do" Sure you would still get a good reaction to these in a modern room if played at the right time and place. Modern rooms these days seem to consist of very little 70s and concentrate on the newer releases along with 80s and 90s tracks..... Chris

Guest Dodger Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Hi Roger Often here Martha Reeves played out at modern dos down south. Goes down very well too. Breaks it up a bit Got any positive nominations? Col. Haven't got a clue what gets played in the northern rooms I'm afraid Col. Terry Gee's list is probably the closest to what you were after I'd say.

I still can't understand why this puzzles so many people.

Epic Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 Not wanting to sound too picky but some of the records listed in this discussion are over 25 years old - do we still percieve these records as "modern"? The Four Tops were recording "modern" records once - but that was in 1965. Just realised - anything recorded after December 31st 1969 is classed as modern by some contributors on this site. Soul music was good in '65 & 40 years on the new releases are still good - open up your minds - you're missing out!
Guest soul4life Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 mmmm.previously put up rescent chooonz! that had across the board appeal...so decided to go back a little further as most of the choices seem to be!!!!! KENNI BURKE "LET SOMEBODY LOVE YOU" MILLIE JACKSON "HOUSE FOR SALE" BARBERA LEWIS "STILL REMEMBER THE FEELING" LANIER & CO " I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO ABOUT YOU" CHILITES "TRY MY SIDE OF LOVE"

I'm not trying to oversimplify things, I really don't know. I go in modern rooms, and dance to things just as happily as in northern rooms, the prerequisite is that they hit the spot. Think Col, was just trying to see what appealled to both audiences, and obviously stuff that has crossed over to the northern room, would feature more in the picks. Winnie:-)
