I have a bit of a dilemma to sort out as i am currently in the process of selling my entire collection of records and memorablilia. I have my original allnighter bag which is looking a bit worse for wear after nearly 40 years. The zip is broken and it really isn't of any use as a bag. BUT there are some very rare and nice original patches stitched to it which include all the St. Ives allnighter 75, 76 and 77 plus E.A.S.C 2nd anniversary, OKEH and a whole load of others that are all in very good condition. What to do ??? Carefully take all the patches off and sell individually or as sets or sell the bag as it is. I have listed some nice patches on ebay but am undecided about my original bag. If it was an antique, the perceived wisdom is to keep the item as it is because that is where the social history is. But in the same way as people cut out and frame illustration pages from rare books then sell them as that makes more money, the badges will probably make more money individually.

Personally, I think the social history is more important but if you are of the same mindset as the destroyers of rare books cut the badges off and sell them individually.

Naa leave the fookers on!!!!....if folk want them they shalt keep em..if not ...shalt get rid...spend ya time worrying over something worthwhile ..like will Gods team Arsenal..at last fill their fooking trophy cabinet this season...I Know....Totally Off Topic....but one can hope...anyway back on topic....leave it too the buyer Delxxxxx

can't see you getting that much for the bag on it's own if it's tatty. So leave the badges on, that will up the value no end.

If you've got the time (& heart) to take them off, I personally would take them all off, as I feel you'll make more for them individually. I don't think you're going to find a buyer who would want them all, & a defunct bag, as any serious buyer would no doubt have a collection of their own patches, and would only be adding the odd few to make their sets complete.

You may find the odd person who wants them all with the bag, but not sure if they would pay the full value of what the patches are worth, and it may take some time for that person to come along. Depends how quickly you want to turn it round.

Moving on to a better life in my villa in Kefalonia plus the lure of driving an Audi R8 clinched it for me. If you love scootering patches you might want to have a look at a rare Skegnees Lambretta Club patch i have on ebay, never sewn or glued. seriously, you'll get a lot more if you sell individually. the EASC patches are desriabe, casino ones sell if in good nick, the rarer casino patches can fetch well over 3 figures . I sold an EASC 6th anniv for big money, a 2nd anniv for £72, a Mr M's patch for £140. I still have a Mint 'M's' which i won't sell. A lot of people like the memorabillia, i'd split them up Tony

Thanks for that mate. Defo won't have any regrets. The scene has changed and the records are not gonna be worth that much to most folk in the future i.m.o. Unfortunately ( and i choose my words carefully here ) there is an awful lot of backbiting and jealousy in the ranks, i have experienced it in truck loads especially over the last 10 years. Seems some people are not happy unless they are having a go at someone else and God forbid if you manage to have something someone else hasn't. It all got to the point where i thought ' F--- IT and now i feel better about my decision to pack it all in. Yes the music will still be there and yes i can venture to gigs and have a dance and see my mates ( the ones I want to see ). Bitter...NO, Disappointed.. YES.
