Here's a list of all the non-Japanese recorded 45's that were hits in Japan .....

.... so I guess all of them should be quite easy to find copies of !!!

So have our 'Japanese issued 45' collectors got a copy of them all ??

I really want to see a Japanese 45 label scan for "The Jerks" by Larks !!!!!

The list also contains "Boogaloo Down Broadway" by Paul Revere & the Raiders .... so I guess it contains a few other errors.

I've seen those lists before as well...not that many Soul titles within them, but that reflects the fact that Black music didn't sell and wasn't popular until the mid-70's with the record buying public over here. There are collectors, who chase the chart hits regardless of teh musical genre...most annoying when we come up against each other in the auctions!

The Larks and a couple of others listed are nowhere to be found in the record company listings, and I've never seen/heard on them existing on a Japanese 7", EP or LP, so probably didn't come out over here at all and the US 45 is also not over here in quantity...no idea why they are on that list.

Some of the others you may think are easy, but are in fact very, very rare -i.e. Supremes, 'Come See About Me', and command hefty price tags over here when they do pop up once every 5 years or so!

My own collection is not a million miles away from being complete for all US 60's Soul releases on 7"/EP on 60's (and early 70's) Japanese presses, but I also buy Pop and Blue-Eyed Soul as well...Paul Revere & The Raiders did record 'BDB' and it is fairly common on a Japanese CBS 7"...Fantastic Johnnhy 'C's version also made it out over here on Japanese London.
