Guest Posted January 17, 2006 Posted January 17, 2006 To the best of my knowledge the first record on the Tamla Label was Tamla 5501 "Cool And Crazy"/"Ich-I-Bon #1" by NICK and The JAGUARS. I show a release date of May 1959. I show a release date of July 6th 1960 for Tamla 54028 "Depend On Me"/"Way Over There" by the Miracles. Is it now true that there were no Tamla singles released between 5-59 & 7-60 ?????? Fos of FOSLAND

Guest Awake 502 Posted January 20, 2006 Posted January 20, 2006 101 - Marv Johnson - Come To Me / Whisper - 1959 Got this on United Artists, licensed to them before the Tamla release ???
Sebastian Posted January 21, 2006 Posted January 21, 2006 Got this on United Artists, licensed to them before the Tamla release ??? Due to this being the first release on Tamla and the fact that their distribution outside of the Detroit area at that time wasn't exactly top notch, it was leased to United Artists as soon as it took off locally. Released on January 21st 1959 on Tamla and then released February 18th 1959 on United Artists. The UA issue went on to become a big hit, #6 R&B and #30 Pop.

FOSMAN I've seen this 45, it looks and feels like a boot and certainly isn't a late 50's or early 60's Tamla 45 and as far as I am aware wasn't released.
